Don't think so. Packers would win division if they go 2-0.
Not if the Bears go 2-0, so thus the Packers need help.

But then the Packers wouldn't go 2-0

Well obviously the Bears and Pack can't both go 2-0...

If Pack doesn't go 2-0, I don't think they have any scenarios for getting in.

Please never throw stones at me or anyone for sticking to our statement regardless of any evidence to the opposite.

The Packers don't need any help if they go 2-0. They go to the playoffs and win the division outright.

Sorry Frank....if Packers go 2-0 that means they beat the Bears. Both the Bears and Packers control their destiny.

Please explain.

It's incredibly simple. If the Packers win the next two games, they are in the playoffs. It is impossible for them to miss the playoffs if they win the next two games.

Do the Bears also need help to make the playoffs?

NBC can take whichever game they want for the last week. They decide it after week 16 games are over. If both the Bears/Packers and Eagles/Cowboys are playoff games for the divisions, NBC will take the Cowboys/Eagles game. No doubt in my mind. Cowboys failing at this game 3 years in a row will be a great story.

Bears/Packers game will move to 3:25 on FOX. Buck and Aikman will do it.

The other interesting games in the final week is Bengals/Ravens and 49ers/Cardinals. Could be for the division if the Bengals lose this week with a Ravens win. But both teams will be in the playoffs, though. So it's not as big of a drama game. 49ers/Cardinals could be a game for the last WILD CARD spot.

You know what? If the Lions lose Sunday afternoon with a Packers win, The Eagles game is actually meaningless for the Bears. Win or lose, the Bears will still play for the division in the final week. So there could be a scenario where it's a meaningless game for both the Eagles and Bears. Then both coaches should sit guys in the 2nd half.

But if both the Lions and Packers lose Sunday, they can actually clinch it vs the Eagles. That would be awesome if they can wrap this bitch up Sunday night.

Check that. It wouldn't be totally meaningless if the first scenario happened. Cuz with a win vs the Eagles, a tie vs the Packers in the final week would give the Bears the division. Remote. But it is something to look at.

Wouldn't the 3/4 seeds still be on the line, though?

Yeah. And I guess that's significant cuz the 3 seed would mean you avoid going to Seattle for round 2. To me that's a loss for whoever goes there. Rather take my chances at any other place. Even New Orleans.

So if the Bears beat the Eagles and go onto win the division they are the 3 seed. Why? Cuz they'll have beaten both the Cowboys and Eagles. So whoever wins the East would be the 4 seed cuz of that tiebreaker.

Best scenario for the Bears would be Carolina winning that division. Still possible. They play the Saints at home this week with a chance to overtake them. Then it would mean the Bears go to Carolina if they win their home game in Round 1. I'd like the Bears chances in that game.

No question that NBC will put a game on that features the NFC East.

Mike McCarthy: Rodgers looks ready to play, starter announcement on Friday

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers hasn’t gotten medically cleared to return to the Packers lineup yet, but he passed coach Mike McCarthy’s eye test on Thursday.

McCarthy told reporters that Rodgers looked both sharp and ready to play while taking part in practice on Thursday. McCarthy said, via Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, that he would have a conversation with Rodgers on Friday and then make an announcement about who will start against the Steelers this weekend.

The lack of medical clearance remains a large obstacle, as does the fact that Matt Flynn was taking the reps with the first team, but this is still the most positive report from McCarthy about Rodgers since Rodgers resumed practicing. That makes this week’s announcement as the starter a little bit more intriguing than it has been the last few weeks, although, again, there’s still plenty of reason to believe that Rodgers will miss another week.

This decision determines whether Packers or Bears take the divison. No way Flynn is beating the Steelers.

I agree...and now reports are the exact opposite from yesterday.

I assume that if the Pack loses this weekend without Rodgers that there is no way they let him take the field next week for meaningless game. Lovie, of course, would be pushing him to start so they could get a worse draft pick while also damaging him going into next year.

GREEN BAY, Wis. — Much of what coach Mike McCarthy said Thursday suggested Aaron Rodgers is ready to play quarterback for the Green Bay Packers this week.

But the team's actions strongly suggest Rodgers in fact won't be cleared to face the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.

At his post-practice press conference, McCarthy at one point said Rodgers "looks ready to play." But McCarthy said Rodgers still hasn't been cleared to play, and the quarterback's limited role in practice and terse session with reporters afterward were strong signs that he will miss a seventh straight game because of a broken collarbone.

Probably a bit of gamesmanship so Mike Tomlin is confused as to which QB to trip when he steps on the field.

That said, GO STILLLERS!

Only downside for the Bears is that he can't be re-injured in the Steeler game.

So it benefits the Bears today if the Cowboys win, yes?

New Orleans lost. Both teams will want that 3rd seed. Can't see either team not going full out tonight.

The game is meaningless for the Eagles. It all comes down to next Sunday no matter what. This clearly benefits the Bears.
