Weren't you predicting a Bears blowout victory?

I take it you agree with my positives. Just about everyone predicted a victory. I am pretty sure that you did. Teams occasionally lose to teams they should have beat. I'm not jumping off a ledge after a Week 1 loss.

At what point do you plan to jump off the ledge. 'Cuz the Bears are going to lose next week, too.

Cutler did not have a very good game, Nas. There is a lot of blame to go around and injuries were a factor for sure, but if Cutler does not play quite a bit better than he did yesterday the Bears will probably miss the playoffs.

Cutler was sharp before Marshall and Alshon got hurt BUZZ, no he didn't do much after the 1st drive. Still making stupid decisions.

Defensive line looked good at times BUZZ, They gave up almost 200yards rushing and only had 1 sack. They played like shit.

No major errors from the coverage unit on ST CHECK

Defense only gave up 10 points that didn't come off a turnover 13 points! Did you not watch the OT? Pathetic Defense on that last drive.

Cutler had 350 yards passing. The Bears were moving the ball well and were probably going to score before Marshall fumbled and Bennett forgot he was a receiver. Even the bad interception would have resulted in points scored.

I saw the overtime. Fact is the defense did ONLY give up 10 points that didn't come off a turnover. The Bears will win most weeks if they keep that up. Yards don't matter as much as points.

But they won't keep that up. This was fucking Buffalo... at home...

Cutler had 350 yards on 49 attempts. Those are pedestrian numbers for a pedestrian quarterback.

What 3? The first pick was clearly on Bennett. The ONLY true mistake he made was testing a 500 lb lineman. That was just an awful play to call.

Correct. The yards per attempt is what matters, not total yards. And the defense was going against one of the worst offenses in the NFL.

Exactly. I heard Rich Gannon say earlier today. I'm not concerned about Cutler because "he can clean up those mistakes."

Umm, no he can't. He's 30 years old and he's made the same dumb mistakes his whole career. Why do people continually assume Cutler will change his approach to the game?

He had 2 interceptions. One of them were clearly his fault and the other wasn't. He was off the mark on a couple other throws just like every QB in the NFL can be. Those passes didn't result in a turnover. He should have had another touchdown too if we are counting misses. Forte dropped the ball.

Flea flicker - Jay Cutler forces the ball to Alshon to salvage a crappy trick play. Alshon was forced to hold Graham's arm and luckily OPI wasn't called.

Pinned in own 10-15 Cutler forced a "go up and get it" to Alshon I believe and ref bailed out Cutler by calling a imaginary DPI.

Later in the 3rd I think in the same drive he tosses a ball in the middle and lucky bounce went right into Morgan's chest.

Overtime I believe he throws a ball to Holmes and nearly gets picked.

His game could've been much worse.

That play to Forte was good defense, too. If we're looking to blame other members of the offense, lets start getting after Brandon Marshall for putting the ball on the carpet twice.

That last play in regulation for the Bears - the pass to Holmes on 3rd down - was clear defensive pass interference. Graham was hugging him for 10 yards starting at the line of scrimmage. It was ridiculous.

Why is Jay Cutler the only QB in the entire league who gets to blame his interceptions on his receivers? And why does it always magically happen to just him?

I figured it out, guys. Cutler is just unlucky. He averages about 20 interceptions a year, all of which are the fault of his receivers.

Beyond that, Cutler should have had about 3 more interceptions yesterday.

I thought so too DR, but there were at least two other holding/PI calls that went the Bears way that I thought should have been no calls. The refs definitely helped the Bears out yesterday.

It was not an awful play to call. It was an awful pass to atempt. Cutler had a list of options he could have done instead of throwing it to a DL.

I don't disagree but that one was so obvious at such a critical point of the game, it's hard to leave that as a make-up call.

It's weird; in the NBA, guys with all the "physical tools" are often deemed to be bad basketball players. Tyrus Thomas, Eddy Curry, etc...

But Jay Cutler continually gets slack because of his physical tools. Outside of one year in Denver, he's never really even been above average. It's an odd dynamic.

The Niners are going to run for 300 yards against this team next week.

It's going to be ugly.

I said many times I was a huge Cutler fan but he disappointed me. I remember him playing at a high level in Year 2 under Martz with very few weapons. I am excited to see what he can in Year 2 under Trestman with great weapons. It isn't an act.

The defense, especially, looked sloppy. They're lucky they were playing a poor offense. They had very little pressure on passing downs and their run defense made some huge mistakes. The offense looked as expected. You can see the potential but …
That's kind of my problem with this whole team. I have no reason to believe they'll reach their perceived potential. Cutler is the exact same guy he's always been. If he can ever learn to give up on a play, then he'd be fine. But he won't, so the offense will be frustrating, high scoring, and inconsistent all year.
The defense has Mel Tucker weighing them down, nuff said.
Good talent, bad decision-making, it's a recipe for 8-8
