I'd take Culpepper only if he had Randy Moss to throw too.

I could see crazy Al reuniting him with Randy and taking a WR in the draft.

As for Culpepper becoming a Bear, why? They already have 3 QBs that aren't very good why add a 4th?

By the way, I am not saying the Bears should get Randy Moss, but that I believe much of Culpepper's success came because of Randy Moss.

Nas, Culpepper has been TERRIBLE the last 2 years when he hasn't had Moss either to throw to, or as a decoy commanding man coverage with a safety rolled up over to his side. Joey Harrington looked better than him last year. Keep him.

Nas has been very desirous that a Bear Quaterback do well.

Should we call the Falcons and see if we can get Joey Harrington or maybe Garcia from Tampa? Is Drew Bledsoe doing anything? Let's call him too. Culpepper will never be what he was.

Kyle Orton doesn't become a free agent til 09 I think and the Bears have Griese til '11. "Rex is our quaterback." I don't think the Bears have much chance of unloading the other 2 so it makes no sense to get a 4th at this time. More than likely next year they'll be looking for a new one.

I don't think we are Griese fans. It would be nice to know if our backup QB sucks or not so we could make this decision. If I was to be considered a fan of anyone it would be Orton but even I know that he is still probably a year from competing for the starting job. I try not to let my alma mater cloud my judgement.

Culpepper fell from pro bowl QB to backing up Joey Harrington in two years. Now, they are picking Joey Harrington over Culpepper in Miami. I think that says a lot. They are trying to trade for a QB that is probably past his prime in Trent Green. Miami will be the second team to completely give up on Culpepper in a short period of time.

He may come back and be an average QB one day but there is a lot more to his downfall than being injured. If we looked at past history as the only indication of who we should get than Kurt Warner would be wearing a Bears uniform.

Nas, are you saying that Joey Harrington is better than Rex? Miami chose Joey Harrington over Culpepper which means they think Joey will be a better player next year.

Things do not look good for Culpepper.

I guess I should pay more attention. It turns out that they would rather have Cleo Lemon or Gibram Hamdan as the backup rather than have Culpepper. Now, part of this can be explained by salary cap but still I have a hard time believing that they would put themselves in a predicament where Trent Green, who was knocked out for a good portion of the season last year, goes down and Gibran Hamdan is there getting snaps.

That is where I think I don't get the argument. Minnesota ran Culpepper out of town after one bad year. Miami is doing the same. Two organizations don't think he is worth the risk. If either of them had any thought to the fact that Culpepper would put up numbers even close to his past history than there is no way they would release him.

It just doesn't add up that he isn't good enough for the Vikings or the Dolphins, but he would be for the Bears.

You may be right. I find it odd that Minnesota would give up a pro bowl QB for a second round pick. When he was good, he was one of the top 3 players in the league.

Miami has had a year to evaluate him and they do not see him ever returning to those times. They could be wrong. There is no way they would consider releasing him if they thought a pro bowl season was still possible out of him.

Where there is smoke, there is fire. It is a lot of speculation and assumptions on my part, but two NFL teams have given up on him. His fall has been so great that I wouldn't be shocked if two or three years from now he is out of the league.

I think it is a bad sign that they think Cleo Lemon can be a greater contributor to the team next year than Culpepper would.

As a side note, I have a feeling Culpepper would still be expensive. Washington or Dallas will make a fairly large offer to him based off of that potential that still could be there.

Well, I guess I'll just have to say that I don't know enough about the Miami QB situation. I didn't even remember that Joey Harrington is no longer there.

It just seems odd to me that a team that traded a second round pick for a player would release them one year later. I guess we'll see how good he is for whatever team he ends up on.

I don't think the Bears will make a move since they seem to be happy with the current QB situation.

Nas, you can't take his career stats and assume that he is going to replicate that next year, especially when he has been injured/terrible the last two years. Plus, he would be expensive, and I can't imagine that it would make much cap sense to make a run at him.
Plus, I thought the Bears made it to the Super Bowl with Rex as their Quarterback. I think his ceiling is as high as Culpepper's. If they were going to go for a qb, they should have made a run at Carr.

This is a moot point. We're not going to sign him because we have Rex Grossman and Brian Griese. The organization is firmly in Rex's corner, and Griese is a dependable backup. Maybe if this was one year later, and Rex doesn't show much/any improvement, this would be worth a shot, but there's no way this is going to be even a remote possibility.

Adding to that, we're just a few weekends away from the draft, the Lance Briggs situation is either going to be resolved by the 28th or will become a season-long issue.

Let's go Bears! Let's go Bears!

I'd be all for giving Culpepper a shot if the price was right. But who would you dump Nas?

Griese signed til' 2011. His contract was front loaded but I don't see anybody else wanting him. Besides then the Bears would have 2 schizoid starting quaterbacks and no backup. That's not how I want to spend my Sundays.

Nas, pretty funny but I don't like the new signature. I'm not offended, I just don't like it.

You're all Packer fans. Cheese is for losers.

(Sorry. That was blatant cheese-baiting)
