..and a game like this proves it. We got away with 1 last week against a tough Vikings unti that can run the ball but that isn’t sustainable.

Hicks eats up extra blockers who can be placed on other key players if he’s not out there, he crushes the edge/pocket and allows extra free plays for guys like Mack to get single blocked. Even in the very few plays Hicks was out there for today he made the Raiders O-line look a little different.

The Bears defense is still really good without him, but make no mistake it looks different if he’s not out there. Let’s hope he recovers soon from the injury he sustained today.. didn’t look good in that replay tho.

It seemed like the backups changed this week. I don't recall ever seeing that 71 chump and there he was prominently sucking the entire day. As I said before with Nick Williams, we were just riding a hot streak.

Yes, Hicks is as important to this D as anyone.

There are a few people here who seem to think he’s overrated. I don’t agree with those people. I’d say he’s #2 most important on this Defense with Mack #1, Jackson #3, and Goldman #4.. with maybe Jackson and Goldman being interchangeable. Bottom line is, our D linemen are crucial to this defenses success. Let’s hope he gets healthy quick.

Hicks was an absolute beast under John Fox. Having Mack and Co around him makes everyone better. He has been one of Pace's best pickups.

Good point.

Not looking good.. the morning show said Nagy refused to say whether or not Hicks will be placed on IR.. may be a while without him.

Hope Pagano can coach some guys up or the defense could be in trouble.

You have to think that he is out until November at a minimum. My guess is mid November.

Who takes the starting spot? Raiders double teamed and cut Goldman all game and dared other D lineman to make plays. LB's looked pretty ordinary without Hicks/Goldman keeping large angry men away from them. Really need Roquan Smith this week against Kamara.

There is the 8 week option of IR and didn’t use that so that should be good.

What happened to his elbow? I assumed that it was a knee.

That plan of having the 32nd & 33rd pick in the draft isn't looking too good.

Gruesome hyperextension/dislocation during a tackle.

According to ESPN, that is still possible;
Quote:
Bears coach Matt Nagy remained optimistic that Hicks would return sometime this season, which is still likely. If Hicks were to return from injured reserve — each team can bring back two players from IR — he would be eligible to return for the Bears’ final three games of the season starting Dec. 15 against the Green Bay Packers. He would be allowed to return to practice two weeks prior.

They promoted the ND guard Alex Bars that is supposed to be a good lineman that Patriots were trying to get.

Even if they were able to reduce the dislocation without damage it would take a long time to regain strength in the elbow, if a D lineman cannot hand fight they cannot be very effective, shutting him down was likely the best thing long term for him.

He got hyperextended between two offensive players and his arm rotated the way an arm is not supposed to go. It was an ugly injury and one that had to be very very painful. I don't think I've ever seen a guy's arm rotated that way. Tough to even watch.

I don't think this will be as big of a loss as you guys do. Hicks wasn't having as big of an impact this season. The Bears most dominant game defensively came with Hicks on the sidelines.

Yea I'm not sure how much longer Nick Williams can look like vintage Kris Jenkins.

Disagree.. he's a beast, no way Jacobs tears us up if he's in there. Roquan is the size of a safety..he ain't filling gaps and stuffing runs or shedding blocks.. Hicks and Goldman are really hiding how soft Roquan is.

A better running back was stopped without him. He hasn't looked the same this year.

The Bears wont face an RB better than Jacobs until they get Barkley.

Kamara is a different type of back.

yes but he plays what amounts to a different position than Barkley or Jacobs. The Bears can bottle up great players.

Probably short-sighted, but would love for them to find a way to rotate Kwiatkowski in on shorter yardage situations. They lack physicality right now and he brings that.
