It was an odd signing. Even before he started fucking up in the regular season they mentioned his range pretty much ended at 50 yards. Why would you throw all that $$ at a guy with limited range?

Blame Ryan Pace for sticking with him after the quadruple doink game. Kickers have been replaced mid-season before.

In the instances of these kicker "swap outs" have they ever happened with as much money owned as was to Parkey?

But I still agree, fuck Pace and his 12.99 Great Clips haircut.

Probably not. But fuck Pace and Parkey anyway. Just looked it up: Parkey is the 9th highest paid kicker in the league. The kickers for the Saints, Chiefs, and Rams make less than Parkey; only Gostowski makes more, and he's the highest paid kicker in the league. FF pointed out that Parkeys stats were good upon being signed. He's right. But the track record was not deep enough to make him the ninth highest paid kicker in the league. The signing smacks of overcorrecting to compensate for cutting Gould and not finding anyone good enough to replace him until Parkey came along. This failure is on Pace.

Whats done is done. There is nothing the Bears can do to change their 12-4 record and playoff loss to the E-A-G-A-L-E-S. Pace, Nagy, and the Bears can improve for 2019 and the 2020 playoffs. Parkey should not even be in the camp with the Bears in July.
