It hurts to even write those words this week.

I wanted to start out with probably the biggest free agent on the team this year: Adrian Amos. Amos is a PFF darling and admittedly has developed well over his time with the team. I think someone is going to give him a big contract. While I would like to have him back I do not think he is worthy of a large contract. He is strictly a SS, as we learned this week. Jackson's presence as a FS has allowed him to look his best as a run supporter and thumper in the middle of the field. I think I would have loved Amos 10 years ago. However, how valuable is that role in today's NFL?

I think the last three weeks have also revealed that Bush is ready for a bigger role. I don't think he is or ever will be great. However, I think he is ready to be a competent starter in the NFL who will be a complement to the much bigger star of Jackson. Some day down the road the team is going to have to devote a big contract to Jackson and I don't want an ridiculous Amos contract to get in its way.

I think I would let someone else take him, fill the position in house and hope for some compensating pick in 2020 when we are still missing a first rounder.

-Bobby Massie is a FA and they need to figure out what to do with Kyle Long. The greatest ability and availability, and Kyle Long- as badass as he is- seems to lack that.

-If Amos comes back on a team friendly deal, fine. If not, they have Callahan and Jackson.

-Kevin White is likely gone and Josh Bellamy sucks outside of special teams, so they will need a 4th/5th WR. This should be able to be found in the draft.

-Its time upgrade from O'Donnell as well. Lost of all of the Mitch/Parkey/Burton/Jackson hoopla was how terrible his final punt of the game was that set up the iggles in terrific field position. For a drafted punter he has been absolutely terrible overall in his time here.

Oh, and then there is the the doesn't-matter-until-it-matters position of place kicker. Money and cap hit be dammed, it is simply not fair to the coaches and other 52 men on the roster to have Cody Parkey anywhere near this team once the new league year starts.

Safety market was historically depressed last offseason. I wouldn’t expect a big deal for Amos.

Kevin White will be replaced by Wimms and why shouldn't he. Wimms showed in preseason and when given a shot in the regular season.

Callahan is a nickel not a safety. Nickel plays something like 70% of the plays anyway. The other problem with Callahan is that he is also a FA. He is less important in that, while I think he is better at his position than Amos is at his, he is hurt every year so they have learned to play without him. I have a feeling he also gets a big contract on the market and I would let him walk as well. I love him as a player but he is small for the position which leads to all these injuries. We need more dependability.

We will see about Massie.

Long might be the most difficult play to make. He is still a difference maker on that line, as we saw when he returned from injury. He makes a lot of money, has had a rash of injuries and is surprisingly old. I want him on the team and can live with his contract if forced to do so but a reduction is coming in one of these years.

Earlier this morning, Mully, Haugh and Biggs seemed to agree that Massie and Callahan would be prioritized over Amos as far as re-signing goes. They seemed to think it's likely Amos won't return.

I heard this segment and agree.

I'd say my biggest concerns are kicker, WR depth, and O Line. Not that O line was bad, but it's something that needs to be priority #1 every year...Mitch has no chance to succeed without solid o line.

As I said elsewhere, Parkey will be back. The hit would be insane for the kicker position to cut him and really, you have to believe that this year was just an anomaly for him.

Tight End is still a question mark. I was never sold on Burton or Shaheen

Shore up Wide Receiver

If Amos needs to be replaced, so be it.

Is Long a FA? I'd definitely try to keep him.

Bye Mizzell and Benny.

Parkey? If I could get Gould back for about $1mil per, I'd go get him.

Kyle Long was abused often on Sunday.

Pretty crappy to have to have this thread so quickly.

I honestly don't think there's any way you can bring Parkey back. Not fair to the team and to him. He failed at his job too much this year to have him on the roster, financial hit or not. Change of scenery is needed.

And as much as I've ripped Bellamy in the past, he had a couple of big catches down the stretch. If he's a 4/5th WR, fine with me. He outproduced White....extremely low bar but he did it. He's earned a roster spot. I would like to see what Wimms could do.

Long just misses too much time to invest any kind of significant money in him.

He's definitely at the top my list for assistant to the special teams talent evaluator when I get hired as a GM.

Gould was at the Bears game with his kids. How's that for loyalty?

They absolutely should resign him. I don't care about Parkey or what the cap hit will be. Neither does anyone else in Chicago.

Does anyone even know the cap hit? I've seen 3 different numbers written by NFL insiders who are supposed to know.

Sign Kareem Hunt.

Good question. I heard both 4.5M and 9M. Maybe it has to do with the date they cut him?

While you're resigning Gould, make Fangio an offer he can't refuse to keep him. Time to open up your wallet, Pace and Bears.

Which would be a bigger PR disaster -- keeping Parkey or signing Kareem Hunt? (And I'm in favor of Hunt.)

this team needs a 2nd WR to pair with allen robinson. gabriel is fine, but i'd prefer someone bigger who still has speed and ability to separate... AROB can make contested catches but he doesnt stretch the defense. so basically what i am loooking for is the guy kevin white was supposed to be

Yeah there isn't much more the Bears can do. If he didn't walk when they hired Nagy then he only walks IF he wants a particular head coach gig.

I think Denver wants him.

I think Fangio is wise enough to see the obvious problems there that could preclude him from being successful.
