How do you fix this? I made a thread exploring the idea of trades but this is a more general thread for figuring out how to break out of this funk.

Robinson is really the only guy performing. Cohen is playing fine really but he's not taking teams by surprise anymore, opponents are more than capable of bottling him if he's really all they have to worry about.

I want to say lean on the screens more but I also think those screens just aren't there due to defensive personnel choices not needing the respect the pass.

Sign a fullback, focus on the run. Run more two-TE sets.

Massie and Leno aren't good enough for this.

You can't grind out drives on the ground when your LT commits at least two false starts and two holds a game by himself. The Bears could maybe get away with that identity if they didn't commit so many penalties but that's simply not the reality.

What makes you think they can run? This offense hasn't countered the rest of the leagues adjustment. Last year I talked about how (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky bailed out the line and the offense with his legs. The league took away the Bears ability to role (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky out and the offensive line has continued to decline. Leno is a fucking turnstile. Unless Nagy makes some adjustments during the Bye this Bears team will struggle to make the playoffs.

The lack of a viable running game is killing this offense. I have no idea how they are going to remedy it. Nas is right, this team may struggle to make the playoffs. Schedule is going to be ramped up.

Usually I feel utter despair after a loss then gain a little perspective and optimism after reflection. This has been the opposite, I think the Bears are actually in a lot of trouble.

Missing out on Roquan Smith and drafting LT Kolton Miller is working out well for the RAIDERS.

You have to pony up some dough and pay for proper linemen.

I think we need some addition by subtraction. Leno needs to be flat out benched, there is a better player available on the bench or another team's practice squad. Massie is barely better. Long and Daniels haven't been great but they haven't been atrocious either. Long is taking a lot of heat that should be directed at the tackles. In an ideal world they'd do something about the Long situation but that's really the third priority at the moment.

Its time to give up on Burton. He's just too soft and weak ass.

I want to see Kerrith Whyte.l and this roster carousel with Sowell needs to end. I see what Nagy is trying to do with a beefy TE but defenses are just going to mirror Bears personnel changes. The fundamental issue is the tackles can't block or commit too many penalties (often both) and you won't solve that by putting Sowell in there. What may help is a speed back who causes some matchup problems and gives them some explosiveness.

There are guys they have on veteran contracts or who played well for them last year who now suck. If there is one in thing the Bears need to do just from an overall approach perspective is triage these players. Who can be reformed and who can't, and we need to cut bait on those who can't.

This is a coaching staff that is starting to seem like they have "their guys" and are perhaps unwilling to self scout and realize they may not have their best option seeing the most snaps.

Cowart should be looked at to replace Long or Leno.

Long isn't committing penalties at least.

True to letting your guy get past you for a sack or stuffing the run leads to loss of yards and a down.

The holds have wiped out so many first downs this season I'm not sure what you describe isn't the preferable scenario.

Does Nagy's system avoid inside run?

Montgomery is a hard runner.

Daniels played at Iowa. He should know how to run block. Whitehair/Long are better than the tackles.

Should be able to have basic 4-6 yard run plays to set up 2nd and manageable

If you can figure this out so can opposing DCs. They are stacking against the run because they know the Bears can't win a game through the air even under the best circumstances. Aside from the Dolphins or Redskins the Bears have maybe the worst 7-on-7 offense in the NFL.

I think the league may have passed them by and everyone around the NFL knows it except the Bears themselves.

John Schoop, Gary Crowton, Matt Nagy.

Nagy will have a bye week to reflect. How he comes back against a very quality opponent at home will be extremely telling.

It is obvious that this isn't working. Is it obvious to him? If not this is going to be a 7-9 or maybe worse season.

But if he goes back to the lab and figures out how to untie some of these knots, or at least recognizes the issues, we stand a chance. Its a long season, there are many ups and downs.

Fair analysis tbh

Crowton and Trestman are apt comps.. Schoop never called a good game in his life so he isn’t.

Offensive line.

It begins and ends there. Even the best quarterbacks in the world need time to throw. The best running backs in the world need a hole to run through. The Bears haven't had that much at all this season. Fix the offensive line, fix the offense. Its that simple.

Stopping the incredibly stupid penalties on special teams and on the offense of line would help too. Charles Leno Jr, I'm looking at you.

What does this team do well offensively? Offense seems to have regressed under Nagy and Helfrich in year two. Pace should insist Nagy brings in a veteran NFL OC, college gameplans are not working out he's gonna get his QB's killed running RPO. League is slowly turning back toward power running schemes as teams realize that the run and gun is not sustainable because it eventually grinds your QB into dust. Can Newton was able to survive as a running QB for a few years, but even a 6'5" 240 pound guy has slowed drastically after taking hit after hit over the years. Teams have loaded up to stop RPO type offenses with small quick LB's and pass rush only DE/OLB, you can run right at those guys or let them get up field and run inside them.

If Daniel is the quarterback for the next week or so, they can't force him to stand in the pocket like a fucking statue. He's too short! He literally couldn't see the linebacker on the first interception.

Well next week is the bye and I doubt they roll with him against the Saints.

You gotta bench Leno Jr. He's been the worst offender with the penalties and its only getting worse. He's clearly not focusing or putting in the work, guy's head is not in it. Its one thing for Long and Daniels to struggle against stacked boxes, and we can get into how much of that is really their fault and how much of it is the fact that Long is a state of terminal decline while Daniels is having a bit of a sophomore slump, but they dont commit many penalties. This team cannot come back from 1st and 15 much less the terrible down and distances they find themselves in after these brutal holding calls.

A message has to be sent. Right now the culture is very clearly that these guys feel secure in their job and playing time because of their contract status or incumbency. That needs to end and Leno is your most obvious candidate. It would send a message that this shit isn't tolerated. I really doubt Lucas III or Coward can commit as many penalties as Leno has this season.

I would be absolutely shocked if this happens but it needs to.
