Offense:
Nagy's offense sucks. The best thing that you can say about the offense since December 9th of last season is they don't turn the ball over. In the 9 games since, the Raiders game is the only game that they've turned the ball over multiple times.

The offense is averaging less than 200 yards passing in those games. The Bears don't throw the ball a lot either. Only 2 games with more than 31 pass attempts. They have attempted fewer than 30 passes in 6 of those games. To put things in perspective Mahomes only game with fewer than 30 attempts came on the last game of the season.

The running backs are averaging fewer than 4 yards per carry in the last 9 games. They've only had 1 game where a running back rushed for more than 100 yards. Their leading rusher this season barely has 200 rushing yards. Montgomery is averaging 3.3 ypc and 1/9 of his yards came on 1 carry. It's easily the worst running game the Bears have had in over a decade.

Allen Robinson appears to be the only player who has gotten better since last year. Every other offensive player has regressed. (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky looks worst than he has at any point since his rookie season. I don't know how this team wide regression isn't a coaching problem or a scheme problem.

Defense:
Looks just as dominant as last year but they still struggle closing out games.

Where has Floyd been since Green Bay? Is Roquan mentally well? Can Fuller play man?

Special Teams:
They've really improved in most areas since last year.

Pat O'Donnell looks like he's having the best year of his career and Pineiro has been solid.

Paterson is an upgrade but nothing spectacular so far.

Cohen had a breakout game returning punts against the Raiders.

Coaching:
The Bears have been outcoached in all but 2 games this year. Nagy has failed to make adjustments to the league. He says all of the right things but his actions says that he doesn't trust his players. The micromanaging hasn't worked.

Rest of the season:
Unless the offense steps up the Bears will struggle winning more than 4 games the rest of the way.

Way too early for all the Pace, Nagy, Mitch, Bears hate. Though it's a results business. Love to see Mitch, Shaheen and others really step it up and improve.

THE GOOD
Adam Shaheen, Taylor Gabriel and Allen Robinson are all much improved. Robinson in particular looks like a Pro Bowl caliber WR. He's using his size way better and making really quick, twitchy moves to get open and adjust to balls mid-flight. He's really tough to cover adequately and would be putting monster numbers if he were in one of the NFL's big passing offense. When you talk about how a guy has just looked there aren't many WR who have displayed the kind of explosiveness and size combination of Robinson this season. Gabriel has put in some work this off-season, his ass and thighs look tight and firm.

I also think Cohen looks better he's just not finding opportunities because bottling him has been a big priority for opposing defenses. His cuts are crisp and while he may have lost just a touch of straight line speed he's doing much less going backwards (with the exception of one or two plays).

Defensively they're all better. Every one of them looks better in this scheme and nobody took the off-season lightly. Been really impressed with Roy Robertson-Harris and Leonard Floyd in particular. Eddie Jackson is really the unquestioned leader now too, he has everything pretty well figured out and QB's treat him with deference that you really never see. Mike Brown is the only safety I've ever seen this good and I'm fairly certain Jackson is playing at a higher level right now than he ever did. Teams just avoid Jackson. Cousins in particular couldn't think straight as he scanned for 39 every play.

Special teams aren't just improved, they look downright good. Big ups to Tabor for getting this sorted.

THE BAD
The offensive line is collapsing. Daniels and Whitehair are two guys I counted on to be outstanding and right now they are just average, which is actually an improvement from how they started the season. Long, Leno Jr. and Massie shouldn't be playing.

The penalties are killing them. This team has killed so many drives with false starts, holds and illegal motions I cant even count it. Had they been playing with the discipline they had last year they'd be 4-1 if not 5-0. The knock-on effect of these penalties has had huge impacts in time of possession and field position. It needs to stop now, but I'm afraid Nagy is too concerned with being a player's coach to hold guys accountable.

The offensive scheme is bunk. Spread is dead. This is a run-first league now unless you have serious aerial talent (and the Bears certainly do not have that) and this shotgun snap zone shit is getting eaten alive. Unlike personnel this is something that can be changed with having to worry about the salary cap or placating anyone. We need more I-formation and under center snaps. Bears have a lot of speed and its time to use it on the ground. Get some guys uncorked. Force teams to overpenetrate and overpursue then unleash Cohen in the screen game. Dont feed me excuses about how the OL isn't allowing this, there's a lot of weak-ass defensive fronts in this league and the Bears should be at least able to work them over for stretches of most games.

I'm very worried about the direction of this season.

Matt Nagy is not a good coach and not a good play caller.
Mitch is a bust. He's a game manager at best. He can be serviceable at QB, but he was over-drafted by what appears to be a lot.

Defense is still very very very good and can win games for the team....as long as they're not traveling to fucking London.
9-7 this year if we're lucky.

As I see it, I think that the season depends on (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky being healthy and released of the shackles he has on him. They have got to get him out of the pocket because the "pocket" does not exist with the shit duo that we have for offensive tackles. This is the ONLY CHANCE that they have to make the play-offs. If (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky stays hurt or they stay in this predictable offense, this is at best an 8-8 or 9-7 team.

Bullcrap. (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is a fine young quarterback.

My bye week observation:

I love Cohen but Pace (and the other 31 teams in fairness) missed on Matt Brieda BADLY in the '17 Draft.

But what do you expect from a poser who took (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky over Watson?

Opportunistic defense, but not dominant.
