Listening to his presser. He's blowing a fuse over the kneeldown. Telling Potash to go watch the Colts game and let him know what happened.

Just saw Peeps already brought this up.

Is Matt Nagy devolving into madness?

I don't give a shit about the shitfuck Colts. I care about the Bears. Who cares what some other team did or didn't do.

He's feeling the heat. He did this to himself. He could have easily said something along the lines of, "I stand by what my calls were yesterday. It didn't work out and we will learn from it. I won't answer any more questions about the end of the game," and that would have been fine. Instead he poured a gas can all over the fading embers.

He identified 1 play he could have called differently. He's extremely arrogant and stubborn. Even Belichick and Payton could identify more than 1 play they would do over.

Belichick and Payton also have just a wee bit more credibility than Nagy does at this point.

What if the reporters bought Nagy alcohol before the press conference?

Wow...so done with this guy, after reading that.

Even Bellichick , after a 47 point win would stand up there and the first words out of his mouth would be "There's a lot of plays we'd like to have back."

Nagy is so desparate to seem like he's in control and we're "close" that it's COMICAL at this point

It is absolute truth that it is easy to coach when your team is winning and the Bear's won a lot last year and Nagy and the team really appeared to be having a helluva lot of fun last season. However, it is also the absolute truth that losing teams are very difficult to coach especially those which had high expectations on them. To this really is the test for Nagy whether he understands it or not. He cannot lose his team if he ever wants to be a head coach again if he loses this job. Anyone can be a big cheerleader when the team is rolling like last year's was.

This team still has talent both on offense and defense. But Nagy has to earn his paycheck and must turn things around or he will be fired. It is as simple as that. It isn't too late for him or the Bears. The season isn't lost but they must end up with a winning record. If the team quits it will be obvious and he might not even make it to the end of the year. They have a defensive coordinator that has been a successful NFL head coach and it might just end up with Pagano getting the job.

Nagy talks too much. Very cocky and confident guy.

This is the NFL. That style bites you in the ass when the losses pile up. So he better start winning again. Or else he's gonna get humbled.

Every other player on the team put them in the position to win that game and Piniero lost it. We are misplacing our anger.

and good luck getting Belicek to tell you he either made a mistake or the plays he would have done differently.

I don't want Nagy telling the press he would do something 1,000/1,000 times just on the chance the rest of the league is listening and will know exactly what he will do the next time in that situation.

Really gd? You are usually a much better Bears poster than this.

Twelve goal to go plays in the first half, 0 TDs. (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky throws a terrible interception AND fumbles in the 4th quarter with his team in the lead. He was also 5-14 on 3rd down throws for the game. The anger is perfectly placed. The starting quarterback needs to play better and protect the football, the offense as a whole needs to execute in the red zone, and the play calling must be better in the red zone.

Not any way, shape, or form can you honestly say that "every other player on the team put them in a position to win." It's absolutely NOT true. If it were the truth, that kneel down would have been to run the clock and end the game. Not to set up a field goal.

He's right in that if Piniero makes what should be a relatively simple kick for an NFL kicker, we aren't talking about Nagy's call to kneel down instead of running plays.

Probably. But there would still be plenty of lamenting the lack of red zone scoring early in the game.

He's 100% wrong to say every player put them in a position to win. You had a west coast team in your building for a noon kick that had like half their team out with injuries. Bears should have won by at least 10 points on Sunday.

I figured he was talking about on the final drive everyone put them in a position to win.

That isn't what he said though.

And even then while the offense did a good job getting down the field, Nagy hurt their chances by choosing to lose 2 yards with a kneel down instead of trying for positive yards, or *GASP* a touchdown.

I think that ignores the nature of a football game. It's very common for both teams to have good and bad portions of the game with the end being the deciding factor. The Bears may have blown out the Chargers with some better red zone play or the same situation may have happened just the same.

You still need to do your best to give yourself the best chance to win and a closer field goal is clearly your best chance to win given the questions at kicker for the past two years. Nagy did not. If he had ran plays to try and get the field goal closer then that's how it goes. Kneeling down when the odds are 99.5% that you get a closer field goal is inexcusable regardless of anything that happened prior.

The exact opposite is true, BRick. Pointing the finger at the 'non football player' kicker is the easy thing to do. The fact is there was MANY chances in the game that the Bears blew. They never should have even trailed in that game, much trailed when the clock hit zero.

The fact is that game as it played out never should have come down to a last second FG attempt. Never should have happened. You have 14 goal to go plays in the game, hold the ball for 38 minutes, hold the opposition to only 42 plays, you have to win.

A field goal is simply a percentage play. The further you are out the lower the percentages go. It is the coaches job to give that field goal the best chance to be hit. If the Bears had been at the 40 yard line, they would have ran a play to get the field goal closer. That's because that is a low percentage kick. The same logic should apply when you are where they were and chose to not only not run a play but actually go backwards a couple yards.

I mean, a team is going to miss plays earlier in the game. If the Bears offense was great all the time then the Bears would be undefeated.

It's not about missing ONE play here or there. The Bears ran 14 goal to go plays in the game, and scored 1 TD. That is why they lost. As I said, the game never should have come down to a field goal.

I agree that is it damn near a fireable offense to take a knee and not even make an attempt to gain more yardage for an easier FG. 40some seconds and a timeout is more than enough time for three, four, maybe even five plays. At the very least, the Bears should have taken two shots at the end zone, with Mitch being told to throw the ball into the stands behind the endzone if somebody wasn't wide open.

This wasn't some automatic kicker...he had missed earlier from even shorter. It's one thing not to try for more yards--he intentionally LOST yards by taking a knee and made the kick harder.
