Starts by taking looks at backups and practice squad guys in last few games. The sad reality is that Pace/Nagy have overvalued draft picks that have produced very little on game day. Team can clear cap room by replacing under performers at TE, OLB, MLB, CB, OG,LT, RT, QB, and S. There is a massive amount of work to be done, but Pace's inability to identify talent at key positions does not generate much confidence.

I'm liking their chances to rebound to 11-5 next year. Need to go balls out after Kittle or Hooper in FA.

That's why I listed Hooper as a back up option, precious.

Kittle’s a non option. Don’t be an idiot.

It starts and ends with an unbiased evaluation of the QB position. A vet and draft pick need to be brought in to replace Daniel and Bray and compete for the starting job. No more coddling and protecting the current starter if Pace and Nagy want to keep their jobs.

No need to even read past this.

The above will never happen.

(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky flattered just enough to deceive since Thanksgiving, and now the Bears won't be able to give up on him. Probably 9-7 next year, out of the playoffs on a tiebreaker.

(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky was always coming back next year. No reason not to bring him back even if you trade up with your two high second round picks(Thanks Gruden!) to get another qb.

It's a really hard decision whether to give him the 5th year option.

Bring in a QB (probably free agency, and probably a guy we heard of, and probably a guy we don't really like) to "compete" against (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky and then give him the job with plans on drafting 2021 QB of the future.

With your 2020 picks, get someone to replace Leno and try again and getting a TE that can play again.

That's the bulk of what needs to change this year. Unfortunately with the Mack stuff, you can't do that much more, but you should position yourself to be in better shape than this year, and hopefully looking good in 2021.

Cut his ass. We already know what he is and he isn't what we need to vault the offense into GB/NO/KC/etc. territory. Stop the false hope and move on.

GB would like to be in the KC/NO territory. GB is firmly a middle of the road offense.

Giving him the 5th year option is smart. It's insurance against his flashes of greatness becoming consistent. If he sucks next year or you draft a better option, you can still release him and it won't cost you a $1.

I'm inclined to agree that this is the best move, even if it is only from a perseption basis.

There's no way Pace isn't going to give him that option. Officially make Chase a coach. Get rid of Bray and draft someone and bring in a veteran backup. I was gonna say Fitzpatrick but he has another year left on his Miami deal.

Like I said, offensive line depth.

After that it’s another TE.

Wide receivers= good enough.

RB= good enough

Defense= great

Not to be Captain Meatball but JP Holtz better be part of the TE plan moving forward. Didn't see a snap today but I've like what I've seen so far.

Agreed.

He’s not bad, but with a QB who has legs you need a game changing talent at TE.

Perspective:

Teams that score more than the Bears:

Giants (rookie QB)
Steelers (horrible QB, RB1 and WR1 injured most of the year)
Browns (dysfunctional offense)
Colts (their QB retired before the season started)

Teams that accumulate more passing yards than the Bears:

Panthers (backup QB)
Dolphins (lol)
Jets (lol)

Mitch isn’t Lamar, but the Ravens have 3 capable TEs right now.

When the Patriots were unstoppable after the Moss years they had 2 borderline great TEs (granted one of them was a serial killer).

I like him and 49. Burton has to be back because of his contract.

Yes, we've entered the "Mitch is great but he needs more weapons" part of his failed Bears career. It's Cutler all over again.

Hernandez was a killer on and off of the field. Hernandez would catch 2 touchdowns, go do a drive and then go over his homie's house and kill his booty.
