The Bears have the most salary cap space in the league and they’ve found a free agent linebacker to use some.of it on.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Bears have agreed to terms on a contract with T.J. Edwards. It is reportedly a three-year deal worth $19.5 million with $12 million in guaranteed money.

It should be at worst a top 10 pick.

This is a great free agent signing for the Bears. Edwards is a leader and is still very young,

He's a meatball Bears fan, and he comes from a family of meatballs. They were also sports radio fans. There's a chance his dad may have found this board.

Your last name isn't Edwards!

If Andy Dalton is getting snaps there, combined with a rookie QB, it's hard to see Carolina winning more than 5 to 6 games.

Right.

Best case scenario for 2023; Fields improves, he is the guy. Bears are much better, maybe fight for a final Wild Card spot. Their pick is middle of the first round, Panther's pick is likely a top ten and might even be a top five. Continue to improve the roster and shoot for the moon in 2024.

Worst case; Fields doesn't take the needed steps forward. Team is better, but not close to the playoffs. Their pick is 10-12, same situation with the Panthers. Draft a new QB. With an improved roster, playoffs should be the goal in 2024.

Makes sense. If Fields is healthy, it's going to be hard to argue that the passing game shouldn't improve drastically over this season.

It's exciting to have draft flexibility for the next 2 years multiple picks in the 1st next year (and in the 2nd in 2025). Lots of options for the Bears to pivot if they need to or just keep adding high end talent.

Indeed. There is also a chance they could trade a #1 for a QB if something works out.

Time will tell of Poles will fuck this up, or if this is the beginning of a special run for the Bears. Definitely reasons to be optimistic though.

We can root for the Jets now to win the title.
