Today's NFL defense are only being asked to keep the other team under 30 in the playoffs. We have seen teams win a SB with a marginal defense.

Meanwhile, Mike Ditka just sat back and let his horses run the race. Now, its a bit easier to play D with Danimal, Dent, Otis and Marshall harassing the QB...nevertheless there were still 4 quarters and 100 yards to defend and the starters indeed covered them all. That feat is legendary. I do not believe those games get the historical due and praise that they deserve. Clearly it is something we will never see again in our lifetimes.

1985.

Just out of curiosity, what rules changes in baseball have been made that would change what a SP/baseball team can do since 2005?

like bernstein says - the best part of a great team is watching them go from mediocre to good to very good..etc. the defense was ahead of the curve, ryan was already there, but, by 83, the defensive pieces were basically in place.

 How is your firing of Eberflus coming along?

The 1985 Bears were good. I can spell that out in crayon for you to read as you watch your 2023 Bears while eating your bowl of soup.

Everybody has told me for 30 years that he sucked. Despite his 77 NCAA passing records and his Super Bowl win and amazing record of winning.

But the WSCR guys told me he was overrated. Even though I watched it happen.

That Wilbur Marshall hit on Joe Ferguson warms my heart to this day like no log on a fire ever could.

The Todd Bell hit in Washington was the signal that the Bears had arrived

Payton holds on to the ball early in that Super Bowl, and XX becomes the only shutout in history.

He'd have a 1-year suspension for that legal hit today.
