JT O Sullivan criticized Waldron earlier this year for predictability/a lack of creativity. Scroll down to around the middle to read a summary: https://www.seasidejoe.com/p/geno-smith ... ith-njigba

Oh well.

Parkins is calling for Eberflus termination do Waldron can be promoted to HC. He also is hosting a HC1 party.

He has been an OC and called his own plays before. He was the passing game coordinator for Mc Vay during the time everyone thought Mc Vay was the most brilliant coach in the world. He has good experience.

We'll see how it translates

The more important question is does it give any indication as to what they are doing with Fields and the the 1 pick

I personally will be shocked if they don't take Williams.

was he out of contract in seattle? i thought usually they dont let the coaches leave for a lateral move until the new coach is in place.

He’s flexible and can adapt to different types of QB’s, that’s why they went with him. I don’t think it indicates what they’ll do with the 1st pick, but it does show they want someone who can build their offense around the players they have rather than force players to run a system which is smart.

Probably available due to Carroll stepping down.

when coaches get fired teams usually retain the rights to the staff i thought until the new coach is hired. isnt that what we did with fangio? teams allow coaches to interview for promotions with other teams but dont allow lateral moves until the new coach decides what to do.

The Fangino thing was more the exception than the rule. Very few coaches are ever retained by the new guy.

As long as he isn't fired midseason with rumors of FBI raids I think this will be one of the better Bears hires in recent memory.

I'm calling it. If they bring fields back this dude will be calling screen plays and a bunch of short passes all day long by week 5. Fields can't do anything else.

As I recall when they fired Carrol they told the others they were free to look for other gigs.

That depends. Is he represented by Trace Armstrong or a Trace Armstrong subsidiary?

Fields' camp is reportedly upset with the hire because Waldron appreciates "data and information".

I hope the thinking isn't that he can fix Fields like he did G.Smith.

You're a Fields guy tho, who you crapping. You said since Fields dominated big ten competition there's no reason why he can't dominate the NFL.

I know this board isn't the best source of football dicemination

Exhibit A
Image
Exhibit B
Image
Exhibit C
Image

But you can connect a few dots, to easily deduce that Justin Fields won't be coming back.

Unless you have a Brett Favre or Steve Young breakout (these examples date back to Bush 1 being in the white house), Fields will never be above the 15-20th tier of QB's in this league.
You are going to have to do something soon with his contract.
At worst, most likely Caleb Williams is another Fields. That's the floor. Even in this bad scenario, you did reset the QB clock.
If Williams is more, and Poles passed on a franchise QB with the #1 pick two years in a row, he never works in football again. He's laughed at universally.

Use your heads people. It isn't that hard.

found this interesting from a Finley article:

Eberflus hired Getsy because he found that style of offense the most difficult to defend. Though he said the Bears would have an “open mind” about which system to run in 2024, he ultimately chose a similar style.

No troll. You're clearly implying that here. Because Fields was good in college that success must translate to the pros. Because it's not the failure is on coaching and not on Fields. Hence, per your argument, fields is inherently destined for greatness and it's only coaching holding him back.
