Antoich and I got Velus inactive tonight. Guess we have to go after Waldron now.

This offense sucks. They had no answer for a 5 man rush. At least we covered

Why do the Bears never seem to hire impact coordinators?

Seriously? I think Buddy Ryan was the last difference maker the Bears hired at the coordinator position.

The play where he actually expected Kmet to block Will Anderson was laughable, Kmet of course whiffed on the block, even the hapless Chris Collinsworth questioned that play.

He must be telling Poles that Shelton and Davis are his best guys on the interior, not sure what he is seeing that makes him think that way as Shelton is getting blown up on every play and Davis looks disinterested, Davis even false started on a play where he is the guy singling the center to snap the ball on the silent count, have never seen that before.

No blitz beating hot routes or play designs at all from this team.. everything I saw in real time was to the outside where it needed time to develop and the Bears didn’t have that kind of time.. Houston blitzed almost 50% of the snaps last night.

While Caleb made some questionable throws in this game this one I don’t put on him, this was really bad O-line play mixed with questionable play calling and play design imo. There was almost no attempt to beat the blitz which leaves DB’s on an island with quick slants or anything like that. Waldron showed his ass last night and now every opponent has a clear sight line into how to attack this team.

Can’t wait to watch some film breakdown of this game and see what some of the film Dr’s think.. but to my eye there were too many calls that asked that line to hold up against the blitz longer than they could and Waldron refused to adjust to that.

How did we end up with the one dope from the Shanahan-McVay tree?

to never adjust to the blitzes and end up getting your QB pressured on 85% of his dropbacks is so amateur, I do not understand what a professional OC is doing during the game if he can't see something needs to change.

Williams obviously got rattled early in the game, it looked as if he was struggling to set up protections, why in the hell didn't they sign a veteran center that could help the rook make line calls? He checked into bad run fits all game long and never checked to a slant our out route to take advantage of a safety covering a WR or LB on a back.

Why not start to roll the pocket and give Wiliams three crossing options, he at least can throw the ball away and not take a sack.

At this point you almost are forced to make the following changes because your interior of your offensive line is a joke.

Kramer at center, could he be worse than Shelton, just tell him to snap and anchor, do not even care if he gets to second level, just hold the point of attack and not end up laying on his back next to his QB.

Pryor or Amegadjie at guard, much bigger bodies, just tell them to go out and play solid technique and not get blown into the backfield. You need to take a look at the kid from Yale, if he can play you might have your RG for the rest of the season and maybe he can play RT and you can move Wright to RG.

There is no way you have your best five starters out there right now and that is a damning indictment of Poles, your OC, and your O line coach, you need to get guys in there with an upside that are willing and capable of matching up physically with NFL DT's.

I don't suspect Waldron is great by any means, but just like an MLB manager with shitty relief pitching, unless you're a certified genius you're going to look bad with a garbage o-line.

Getsy managed to put together an effective running game last year. Are we saying that the coordinator we just hired may be less competent than the coordinator we fired at the end of last season?

FWIW

However, all of that playmaking ability didn’t translate to a successful offense last season. The Seahawks ranked just 17th in points per game and often went through long stretches where they struggled to get in sync.

A big part of that was due to the struggles along their injury-ravaged offensive line, which cycled through 10 different starting lineups over the course of the season. But there were also questions about play-calling and overall scheme under former offensive coordinator Shane Waldron, who left to become the Chicago Bears’ OC after Seattle parted ways with longtime head coach Pete Carroll in January.

I didn’t have a big problem with Getsy last year.

Was the rushing offense that good last year, or were their stats inflated because Fields is an excellent runner?

Two glaring issues I see with Waldron so far..

1. His personnel decisions are odd (having a scrub like Everett out there on too many plays instead of Kmet for example). Only time your top TE should be out of the game is for a breather, that’s it.

2. As with Nagy and Getsy- he seems too wrapped up in his own scheme sometimes which causes him to avoid obvious play calling in situational downs. For example, 3rd and 1? Fuck it, line up in an ‘I’ form and hand it off to Roschon.. yeah it’s kind of obvious what you’re doing but.. sometimes that’s the right call in that situation. Getting overly creative or ‘too cute’ in those situations typically results in negative plays -just call the simple fucking play there.

I guess I could add a 3rd by saying he abandons the run too much so far but it’s early and we need to give that some time.

Herbert put up a 4.6 ypc last year and D'onta Foreman came off the scrapheap and ran well. I'm sure Fields helped though.

this team is only going to see 5 or 6 man rushes until caleb shows he can beat the pressure... but thus far he's been horrendous against blitz and pressure.

if this team wants to run the ball they should be giving the work to herbert and using swift to spell and on 3rd downs... yet for some reason we have travis homer playing 3rd downs.

Seems like he is using "his" guys that know his system. Homer/Everett/Carter all know his system and are being used in place of better players.

Poles should have known Waldron's scheme would take time to learn and tried to find some OL guys that knew Waldren's system to help with the learning curve. Obviously they are not picking it up quickly.

Reminds me of Nagy's scheme and how he had to simplify it for Fields when it was too much for him to concept. Waldren is not teaching a seasoned vet like G.Smith and needs to realize the difference in a vet and a rookie.

The personnel decisions are driving me crazy.

Rome is only hurt because Waldron decided they needed to run a play for Velus after he’d fumbled a ball 20yds up the field.

Interesting to hear Thayer agree with me that they should give Pryor a look at guard, much bigger guy that should at least hold up at the point of attack.

This would be the week to tinker, Colts do not have anywhere near the talent at DE and DT the Bears have faced in the first two weeks.
