Has not been good the last couple years.

What will this team look like coming off a bye against a solid Redskins team?

This will be telling to whether Flus is the long term answer or not

What? They beat the 9-3 Lions 28-13 coming out of the bye last year and lost by 5 to the 12-1 Eagles the year before.

My apologies sir it appears as if my mind is remembering how awful Nagys teams were after a bye.

Either way it is important to see how they come out after this bye.

Flus' Bears have generally not been good before, during, and after the byes so it's understandable.

Flus is a changed man since he started living on borrowed time.

Biggs addressed this.

Brad Biggs wrote:
The Bears played their best game of 2023 coming off a bye, soundly beating the eventual NFC North champion Detroit Lions 28-13 on Dec. 10 at Soldier Field, outscoring them 18-0 in the second half. It snapped a disturbing trend as the Bears had lost coming out of the bye in nine consecutive seasons from 2014-22.

I consider the games after a bye a testament, good or bad, to the head coach.

This will be a very important game before they start their play in the division. I don't see them as good right now as the three teams in the division. We will see.

Bears should be in a good position after this bye as they were missing key pieces on defense in London who should be back then

Do we know the severity of Gordon's injury?

They made it sound like a week-to-week situation, which is good news considering what it could've been

That's very good news if that's the case. Gordon is emerging as a dominant player, as is Brisker.

Gordon is the guy you offer a new deal to. I can’t see how you can pay Brisker.

You made me think about Poles’ draft classes with this post. As much as we rip on the Velus pick, he has had some really nice hits- Stephenson, Dexter, the punter, and the two you mentioned. He has also drafted both starting offensive tackles where I think the jury is still out. Add in the resigning of Johnson and Kmet along with the linebackers in free agency.

I think we should feel good about Poles overall grade so far.

Hopefully you can structure something short term or incentive laden with Brisker. But this guy is definitely a candidate for early retirement.

Poles will be graded on Caleb. For better or worse, that's the draft pick that matters. If Caleb is great, there may be a Poles statue in the next 30 years.

Signs are pointing in the right direction.

I've been watching that TD pass to Keenan Allen over the middle nonstop. It's a thing of beauty. The anticipation, the ball placement, the confidence throwing into a tight window make for some great football porn.

Yeah, it's sad because the guy is such a fierce player who is really coming into his own.

The 2nd Allen TD is almost as impressive because the LG completely missed his blocking assignment yet Caleb still made the quick timing play work.

I'll say this, ex-QB1 doesn't successfully make either throw.

For sure Nas. But honestly Caleb was the closest thing to a no brainer. The other guys are starts and contributors too, which has lots of value.

Caleb was a no brainer, but Poles did the work to get him weapons and make sure they executed year 1 in a manner that would make sure Caleb had opportunities for success.

They are definitely pointing in the right way.

In the past watching Mitch and Fields you could see pretty quickly that it appeared the arrow was pointing down and you just had to hope things would change.

Having the opposite is really nice. Hopefully it continues.

The 2nd play was a running play. Chase Daniel did a better job breaking that play down.

Stop patting yourself on the back. The defense is fine. The offense would be as well but Caleb has missed layups. Bearded Eberflus is my guy

No excuse for Williams not having a better sense of where he was on the field before he slid
