Sure but why now?

They have like 2 nfl caliber linemen who aren’t injured right now. Is this Davis saying he won’t play? Wouldn’t it otherwise be worth just having him stand there in the likely event they need a body at some point?

Yup, that was what you read on the Titans boards when the Bears signed him, nobody really cared and the felt he could be easily replaced, you read the same thing about Bates on the Bills boards.

Does Poles think he has some magic elixir that turns bad offensive lineman into good offensive lineman?

Poles has shown zero ability to evaluate offensive lineman on the pro or college player side and we now have a significant sample size, so it seems we should be looking to bring in a new GM/HC tandem to rebuild the offensive line as Poles has done nothing in three years he has had 18 picks in the first three rounds and has picked 3 offensive lineman.
