It seems like they have already zero’d in on Liam Coen, OC for Tampa.

The Bears have an issue where they are not a particularly attractive destination and have also traditionally worked under artificial self-imposed constraints with regards to coaches who have big personalities. Not a good combination. I cannot imagine Belichick or Vrabel are even on the table.

The big problem is if the Bears laser in on “their guy” in their interview process, but that also happens to be the guy Cincinnati or even the first overall picking Giants want it’ll be tough to compete.

what makes you believe they have zeroed in on Coen?

I would put money on Brian Flores. Unless Thomas Brown some how goes five and 0 and then they’ll hire him.

They need to be patient and see who becomes available. There are rumors that Kyle Shanahan may be on the hot seat.

And just like Harbaugh from last year.. if he's available? You go get Shanahan.

That said, Ben Johnson would be my top choice as far as the coordinators are concerned.

Vrabel is interesting former coach wise. Flores would be a huge mistake imo. He wasn't even that successful in Miami to begin with -not to mention all the player issues he had. He's a coordinator, not an HC

I like Thomas Brown from the early returns I've seen but.. its a small sample size and it might wind up biting the Bears a bit putting him in control of the team because it could take away the from the progress he's made with Williams. We'll see. But if he does a good job the rest of the way its only fair to have him in the conversation.

Dark Horse pick.. Mike McCarthy who should be out over in Dallas. Laugh if you want to, but he's great with QB's, has had success everywhere he's been, and actually puts together solid coaching staffs too. He's had more than a few teams with top tier defenses to go along with good offense. Personally I think Jerry Jones meddling has caused a more than a few of their current problems and it would be very difficult for almost any coach to find success under his ownership.

I figured that'd drag at least one of you in here.

Would be really hilarious if this happened and we started stomping the Packers regularly every year.

He was good in GB. And as far as Dallas goes.. Jimmy Johnson couldn't put up with Jones, Parcells couldn't stand him and now McCarthy has had to deal with him. I'd take at least some of McCarthy's issues with Dallas with a grain of salt due to Jones and his always looming micro-managing presence.

If this is true, I would bet they hire Brown or somebody desperate like Flores.

Vrabel will get the train back on the tracks.

Johnson is interesting, I think he is boom or bust. For some reason, I have Ben Macadoo as his comp.

Kingsbury you already have seen what he is about.

I think you have to tighten the ship up, but that would require you finding a good OC with the Vrabel hire.

Thomas Brown if they win a game in last five and Caleb looks to be improving. (LTG and USA opinions will not be considered.) He will come cheaply and that is the Bear's style.

yes that is correct and most likely to happen.

if they want instant credibility - they should get Bellicheck. But we know they wont.

Vrabel is a good choice too, but he can get your team to playoff contention but can't seem to get his teams to championship contention.

One of these off coordinators like the guy in detriot - they don't look like Head Coaches. Leader of men. They are better suited as 2nd/3rd guys. So many of these guys seem to fail than succeed recently. They're all vanilla like the Kliff Kingsbury type.

I want an offensive guy in charge. But knowing the bears they'll fuck it up.

I doubt the Brown family has a private jet. Fuck, I bet Mike Brown drives a Honda.

That said, I assume the Bengals even charter a jet for the guy who will be either the #1 or #2 guy in you billion dollar company.

Well I know he was actually able to win with Rodgers unlike the guy they have now..

If it's not a proven head coach on the level of Mike Vrabel you'll know the Bears aren't serious about winning. They just want a "don't rock the boat" guy like Warren and Poles

I’d like an offensive minded coach who’s been a head coach before but there doesn’t seem to be many available. Who knows when Monday, January 6th arrives. Kingsbury isn't the answer. He had a lot of game management/timeout issues with the Cardinals. There’s no question you hire Shanahan if he’s let go.

I’d rather have a Vrabel or Belichick over a Ben Johnson/Joe Brady. Previous coaching experience should be the target. If Belichick was 68 and not 73, I’d love it.

McVay had a lot of nice things to say about Thomas Brown. At least when Brown steps up to the microphone, he’s not a bumbling coach speak idiot. The next 5 games will be interesting. He deserves this audition.

Packer fans seem to think that their fandom makes them pseudo NFL experts.

It’s strange and laughable all at the same time.

We gain great confidence when you watch such an inept organization like the Bears continue to step on their on dicks year after year.
