when does he start riding the pine? if he sucks against dallas, are the reigns handed over to griese? or say griese comes in against dallas, does rex then start week 4? if he looks good for a game or 2, then starts sucking again, does he get benched then? i mean lets face it, they've only played 2 games, and the appaling lack of offense has lost one, and kept a bad football team in another for way too long in the 2nd half.

just want to get your opnions on the matter. for me, i give him dallas and maybe one more game. if he doesnt show serious improvement next week and in week 4, 'he gone'

I think you have to give Rex a couple more games for one reason. He isn't signed for next year and therefore he is probably done as a Chicago Bear if he is benched. This is why he should have been sat for a game or two last year(starting with the St. Louis game). If Griese was good, then he would have never seen the field. If Griese was bad, we would have known and Rex would have been given another chance. We could make a more educated guess on who is our best chance to win. If Rex is our best chance to win we would know that.

Rex would have been given a second chance and if he failed again then it would be obvious that he isn't the future. Now we are at a situation where the QB that we have tried to develop for 5 years is one bad game from being pulled.

Unless he is "really bad Rex" then he gets two games to prove it.

The only way Rex will be on the bench is if he's injured. And that's becoming more and more likely the way the O-line and running backs are blocking for him. At no other position does Lovie have a problem making changes... but for Rex, all of his stubborness is saved and used...much like Dick Jauron was with John Shoop. Changing starting quarterbacks may not be the solution to the Bears' offensive struggles, but with a few more hits like Rex has taken already, Lovie won't get to decide...he'll be down to Orton and Griese anyway.

After Dallas, you get into the division, where he can look very good. If he blows against Detroit, then you have your answer.

You get yourself one of them time machines and go back to about week 12 or so last year and bench him. We'd all be very happy Bears fans then.
