Kenny Payne broke his arm and Peanut/Vashar are still hurt so the Bears are saying they will look outside the organization for a new d back. Josh Gattis is on the practice squad and might get a call up but more than likely to get someone with experience.

Elvis "Toast" Patterson is probably available. I cannot think of any name players who are not on a team. Anyone that is on the street right now probably cannot cover at all.

A couple of names I've seen on the FA list that should get a call


Matt Bowen, formerly of the Rams and Bills. He plays safety, can support the run, but was hampered last season from a broken leg suffered in 2005.
