Well now we all know why he took so long to pull Rex. If griese sucks this bad, how bad is Orton?

You could have Joe Fucking Montana at QB and this offense would still suck. Turner + Benson / O-Line = BAD OFFENSE!

Let me add everyone listed as WR on the depth chart.

Why would they put their WRs on their "hands" team...

I think the award should go to Turner. If you don't want to throw downfield, why even bother having a QB suit up. Also--nice game Benson. Way to take charge when the team needed you. It will be different next week when a QB is preparing for the full week (either Griese or Ortman) without the cloak and dagger crap about who the QB will be.

I know this is his first game but he has to improve in the next few weeks or the Kyle Orton era will start and that means the season is over. I think he can do it but he can't play not to mess up.

The season is pretty much over already, and Lovie is too fucking dumb to put Orton in, knowing his patience Orton wont see the field untiull week 13 when they are 3-8 already. No matter how bad the qb play continues to be they need to make offensive line the number 1 priority. Theres not 1 good team in the NFL right now with a below average offensive line.

I think the coaches' mantra is Don't mess up. They will not win with that philosophy.

So pretty much #14 is #8 with a weak arm.
I'm sure #87 likes him better (since he got to catch 5 of theose 5 yard passes) and will say that he gives them a better chance to win.

3 picks & 5 fumbles!
Nice execution assholes.

BTW,
I'm going Buddy Ryan on this team, and refuse to use the names of any player not playing defense.

They did it with Orton then Rex and I will assume Greise. The defense is usually that good so they can get away with it...until they play better teams or require the QB to make a play.

I think it screws the young ones up and that's why they can't develop a quarterback. That's part of the reason I've never thought Rex or Orton will amount to anything.

Come on Nas, thats like us saying through 3 weeks that "this would be the type of football Rex would play." I could be wrong, but I, like many posters here I think, just kinda knew Rex wasnt the answer, we didnt know if Griese would be but we knew Rex wouldnt. If I was Lovie I would give Griese one more game, maybe two. But Lovie said he will have patience with Griese and give him several weeks. In my opinion that means its time for you guys to start looking at the draft.

These were the same things posted after every bad game Grossman played. Even after his first bad game last year it was bench Rex and start anyone. I'm jut trying to balance the scales. All that glitters isn't gold. It's going to be obvious that quarterback play wasn't the main problem. Once they quit on Rex it was time to make a change but it still didn't change the fact the Bears entire offense is bad.

Yeah I dont disagree with you at all, my biggest disagreement with the majority of the board is that the offensive line needs help more than anything. I have been saying this on this board since preseason. An offensive line that is this bad does not put Benson or the QB in a position to succeed, which in turn is just setting up whoever the QB is for failure. Even if Favre was under center for this team, it would look a whole lot like the Favre of the past 2 seasons, not this year's version. An offense is only as good as the offensive line. If they dont get significant help on the line this offseason, even if they get Mcnabb or a top 5 QB prospect, it wont matter because they will continue the slide offensively and continue to waste the prime of Urlacher's career.

LIONS (+3) over Bears
Put it this way: When your own fans are chanting "Griese! Griese!" for your backup, only it's 2007 and they're chanting for Brian instead of Bob, then you know you've colossally failed as a starting QB. Is Brian Griese the worst athlete who ever had his name chanted at a professional sporting event? He has to be right up there, correct? This was like 19,000 NBA fans chanting "Madsen! Madsen!" at the same time. Anyway, you beat this Lions team by throwing the ball on them and outscoring them ... and I'm not backing Brian Griese in a shootout. No, thanks.

I don't blame Griese...he is what he is. It's why other teams have gotten rid of him. He doesn't have great arm strength. He made far better decisions than Rex today though.

Benson is a dope. He fumbles and seems cloddy to me. He definitely does not have da fire and da passion.

The offensive line just sucks.

When Griese throws the ball 26 times in the first half, something is not working.

It wasn't as much about wanting Griese, but more about not wanting Rex. That's why Smith/Angelo should get some heat, this was no new problem, but there was no move made or even a competition.

Grossman was given 22 games, I'll give Griese a pass for a game or two. He was some good, some bad, some really really bad. He hasn't played many meaningful snaps since moving to Chicago.

I think he will improve. He won't be a dominant QB, but he will be more consistent, even if he wasn't today.

LOL @ this thread. Great to see Bears fans getting trolled by a Packer fan.

BTW, ripping on Griese doesn't change the fact that Rex Grossman is a bust, Nas.

no improvement with griese at the helm. i wonder if we'll wait another 5 years to develop a below average quarterback? maybe we'll actually draft a playmaker at wide reciever. but then again we probably wont put him on the field like olsen!

I agree. While the man might not be a pro bowl player this season, Griese still gives this team the best chance to win. Grossman has proven to be completely unreliable and immobile. There were many things Griese did wrong yesterday, however there were also many things he did correctly. Give him another week and you will find more security at QB.

Great question. I have yet to hear any explanation as to where he was.

Nope: he's either a decoy, or it's a screen pass. That's the Bears' idea of "fooling" the other team.

The way to look at it is, they have several problems (QB, Benson, play-calling, O-Line), and they've swapped out one piece. Did anyone think Rex was the entire problem? Now you have to look to the play-calling (why wasn't Olsen used more?)

Rex I feel is the easiest-quantifiable problem they had in that mix.

That has to be a large part of what destroyed Rex, that philosophy.

Like you correctly pointed out so many times with Rex, when the WR's drop so many balls, the offensive line cant block for shit, and Benson continues to prove that trading TJ was a terrible idea, and with the worst offensive coordinator in the league, you cant blame Griese only. Any of the 3 QBs on the roster could have started that game and they would have lost.
