He's a decent WR with a blond busty wife. The Eagles are looking to trade him to make room for Jeff Garcia.

If he'd sign for one or two years, yes.

He's decent. More experience than just about any of the current Bear receivers......and he has a hot, yet ditzy wife.

He would be that big receiver that the Bears lack. Didn't realize he was 6'4'' 220. Eagles are said to only want a 5th or 6th round pick for him.

If the Bears had any interest in Hank Baskett, chances are Kendra Wilkinson from "The Girls Next Door" & her self-titled E! spinoff won't be far behind watching from a luxury box. That being said, the SCORE's Hub Arkush, also of Pro Football Weekly, says he'd be an upgrade, but not much of an upgrade over the guys currently on this roster. That's what he told Mac & Spiegs this morning, and he'll likely tell Terry & Dan the same thing come 5p this afternoon.

Eagles activate Vick, dump Baskett

Posted by Mike Florio on September 15, 2009 2:50 PM ET
The Philadelphia Eagles, after trying in vain to trade receiver Hank Baskett, have opted instead to dump him in the circular bin for holding waste.

The move was necessitated by a desire to activate quarterback Mike Vick to the 53-man roster. Previously, Vick was on an exempt list; he was permitted to attend meetings and work out on his own, but he was not permitted to practice.

(Several media members have reported this move, either by Twitter or otherwise. In lieu of pissing off any of them by omitting him or her, I'll go ahead and piss off all of them by mentioning none of them.)

The Eagles had the ability to move Vick to the active roster at any time, or to leave him on the exempt status. He remains suspended until Week Three.

The team now has four quarterbacks on the active roster: Donovan McNabb, Kevin Kolb, Jeff Garcia, and Vick.

McNabb has a broken rib. Kolb is expected to start against the Saints on Sunday, if McNabb can't play.

The move means that the two starting quarterbacks from Vick last regular-season game are now on the same roster -- Garcia had limited duty in a 24-17 win over the Falcons in the final week of the 2006 season.

The leading receiver in the game, with 177 yards, was Hank Baskett.

Because Baskett is not a vested veteran, he'll be required to pass through waivers.

In other words, he'll be playing for the Lions on Sunday.

What do the Bears have to lose? They might as well bring in Baskett.

I tend to agree, but are the Bears interested?

Any of the current receivers could be expendable...I heard the SCORE's Les Grobstein mention a former Bear now with the Carolina Panthers that could've provided leadership and guidance to the inexperienced Bear receivers during one of his late night shows last week...Emmy-winner Muhsin "Countdown to Kickoff" Muhammad.

When the Bears lost running back Kevin Jones for the season with that ankle injury, the name Dominick Rhodes was mentioned, but the Bears were not interested at the time...I'm not so sure the Bears are that interested in Baskett either...

Fixed.

what you need to pick up a free agent wide receiver for your fantasy team already?
Baskett is your classic pick up as a free agent, have one good week, then trade him a week later. But then you already know that.

If we are on the "Lets give him a try" bus, then Matt Jones gets my call well before I call Hank Baskett.

I know Matt Jones has some off field issues and some say he just doesn't want to play football, but a guy who catches 7-+ balls and 10 TD's in 12 games. The guy is 6'6" and fast.

Players outlooks on football/pro sports change heavily when they are away from the game via not beiing signed or just released. Guys realize, it's a great life and they cant make that kind of money anywhere else.

Jim Miller, also well in my camp on this one.

There are actually a few FA WR's that have a ton of physical gifts, but haven't put it together, or do cocaine. And why you wouldn't bring in any of them, on a very short leash, is unforgivable.

We are not in a position to be picky. So why not bring in a 6'4" 220lbs, 26 year old Reggie Williams? Or Matt Jones, Will Franklin or Ronald Curry? Or now, Baskett. The guy killed me more than a few times in FF. Maybe the immensely gifted Williams finally turns a corner. And even if he doesn't, his numbers, while considered disappointing for him, are better than Hester's. Hell, he at least presents matchup problems, and he can throw a mean block...

If the Bears truly believed the crap about a QB making WR's better, then any of these guys should be fucking stars in Chicago.
