My guy confirmed he was definitely injured pretty badly during the Seattle game, and never fully recovered. Not surprisingly, he felt the best he had all year the last two games.


Why didn't the Bears address the RB position earlier on? Who knows.

He was never healthy from when he got injured late in his rookie season. I
heard from a family friend of his that when he hurt his ( foot, maybe toe? ), late
that season it never got better. Even in the offseason the Bears never had
their team doctors fully evaluate it. When he was back home in Louisiana
he had another doctor look at it. When the Bears found out, they went
apeshit. I only hope he can rehab and comeback in '10 with a bit more of
a burst and able to break more tackles.

I don't buy the injury excuse as much as I think he was overvalued for his accomplishments in 2008 and then suffered from a lack of touches in 2009. The Bears need to find another back and use them as a tandem.

As far as adding another RB, there are some good options in the draft for teams that have draft picks. Maybe Toby will still be around on day 2 or 3!!

As most of the rest of the NFL has done for at least the past 2 years. It's not suprising the Bears are behind the curve on innovations.

My guy for the draft is Lagarette Blount. He should fall due to his sociopathic tendencies, his punch at Boise State and suspension for most of the year and his 40 time will not be off the charts. However, that is one powerful back who showed an ability to play in a tandem role at the end of the year.

The problem is that the team has so many needs (O-line, DBs), it's unlikely that their need for a GOOD back-up RB will be sufficiently addressed in the draft - I'm thinking that Angelo will just try to sift through the scrap heap like he normally does, and that kills any optimism that I have for the running game to turn around this next season.

I think that there are some GM's in the league that agree with you and this beast will be long gone by the time the bears pick. As far as behaving in an acceptable manor, he should be fine if the situation he finds himself in involves strong leadership from the top down. Therefore, I would not classify the bears organization as one in which his new found ability to "live right" will continue to thrive. A young mind ripe for molding such as his does not need to be anywhere near the likes of say, tommie harris. I see him going to Cleveland, he fits their running style and the inmates do not run their asylum, at least not anymore.

They buried the lead in this story. The one time MAC defensive player of the year heard surgery.

Also, punter Brad Maynard had his right hip scoped, a source said. His recovery time is unclear.

Maynard was listed as questionable with a groin injury before the last home game against the Vikings. He handled the punt duties that night despite the Bears' decision to sign Richmond McGee as insurance.

Good point, unless its completely torn the MCL is generally left to heal on its own as it has sufficient blood flow. If he had a completely torn MCL he would not have been playing. This sounds most interesting.

I would be floored if he is gone before the third. Even if you love his abilities this would be a huge risk for a top pick. These guys with questionable character always fall.

All the talk last year was that if a young back is used too much, his next year will suffer. Well I think that is a big part plus this injury didnt help. I agree on the two backs, Chester Taylor would look pretty good as a Bear.

The Bears cannot overlook any position on this team besides QB. Bring any competent RB in during the offseason/training camp to push Forte or take his job. The Bears must have at least 2 if not three capable RBs for next season. I like Bell, but they need more depth at this position.

That said, they won't do shit.
