Bears linebacker Roach signs tender offer April 19, 2010 2:09 PM | 1 Comment By Brad Biggs
The Bears have their second restricted free agent under contract.
Linebacker Nick Roach signed his tender offer Monday, according to the club, and he's expected to compete for the starting job on the strong side with Pisa Tinoisamoa.
Roach was tendered at the second-round level, meaning he stands to earn $1.684 million this season. Roach started 15 games last season and was fourth on the team with a career-high 82 tackles. As we detailed here, he was especially productive when it came to tackles for his position. The strong-side linebacker comes out during nickel situations and Roach averaged a tackle every 7.41 snaps, second on the roster to only Pro Bowl weak-side linebacker Lance Briggs.
