You've got to be SHITTING me Martz!
Dude tossed what 26 INT's? Warner never did that or anything like it. I mean in '01 he threw 22 INTs but softened that up with 36 fuckin toddies.

I'm not too low on Cutler. I'm sure it had something to do with shit receivers but you don't toss 14 Red Zone INT's with "Warner-like" awareness.
17 int's when trailing last year. that's your leader making decisions.
And you know what only 3 were intended to hester, so was it bad routes at fault? If so our Savior Knox was the intended target for 6 ints and Bennett 5. More than Mr. Can't Route.
Warnerlike. Damn Kurt Warner had to choke back vomit when he heard that.

Maybe Martz just meant that Cutler is aware of Kurt Warner's whereabouts at all times.

You can already hear Martz campaigning to be the coach next year. He'll even work cheap!

You can have my Elmhurst Steve Awareness magnet.

So, I'll go ahead and say that he's gonna top 25 int's again this year.
Cutler has always been a little intercepty but Martz requires passing to spots on timing routes and not just open receivers, this coupled with receivers of a lower quality than he enjoyed in Denver and a questionable Oline leads me to suspect either he'll have a ruptured pancreas from the sacks or he's gonna throw a shitload of int.

I'll take that action. If he throws 24 INT's or less, you send me a dozen - chocolate frosted. 26 or more, you pick the flavor.

That's some good pre-season fire and passion, DS :) I do agree with your reasoning for the most part, but I'm still somewhat open-minded to the possibility that some of those INTs had to do with bad routes run by inexperienced receivers. He may very well have over 15 interceptions this year, but I can have some hope at this point that he'll have 25 TDs, IF the WR corp will show us a bit more than last year. I do think Martz is on crack for saying what he said, for the record...

Word. 25 is a wash or do we call it 24.5?

Ironically enough, this is only available in black.

If he throws exactly 25, we each send a half-dozen to Spaulding and Boiler Rick.

Or we just call it even. Whatever works.

I like the idea of a Kurt Warner Awarness Week.

I gave a very generous tip to the bag boy at Jewel this morning...

Ok interesting... You might be on to something, most int's were to inexperienced receivers...
Interceptions by intended target:
Forte 1
Clark 1
Aromashodu 3 (how many games was that??)
Hester 3
Bennett 5
Olsen 4
mcKie 1
Knox 6

YIKES. He spreads the int's around but it's not to their worst route runner, Hester. Bennett an Knox were green, but Forte, Clark and gulp 4 to Olsen?

20 int's were on the road. 6 at home. Not sure if that reflects on the QB or the WR's but it was an interesting stat I thought.

Yes, but we all can agree that Olsen, the sally that he is, truly blows...

I do agree. He's a guy who hears footsteps. I'm shocked that a guy as big as he is will not fight for the ball and bring it down.

You can mail donuts? Leave them on the front porch next to the cupcakes.

This is a sweet bet but I'm not rooting for 25 ints. Thanks for including me.

Hester was not the worst route runner on the team last year, not by a long shot. He struggles with audibles, but his route running is actually pretty OK. Knox was very bad.

I still don't understand the Knox love. He seems to be the classic case of a player who had a couple good games out of nowhere and once teams got some tape on him he was pretty much meaningless.

At least Aromashadu did it at the end of the season and we don't know if that will happen yet.

He's fast, so people think there is potential greatness there. But Irish Boy is right, he ran some terrible routes last season...

Yes, he did run terrible routes, but he also seems to find holes in zone defenses and can create separation.

I wrote much of the same last week...

I'd expect a big season of nothing. The Bears will cling to playoff hopes in late November but ultimately we find out that they aren't as good as the Vikings and Packers who are both playoff teams.

Well if you wanna be an asshole (honest) about it...

Everytime I wanna get excited and think Cutler can bounce back, I think of Hester running the wrong way and some rookie safety scoring his first TD on a pick 6.

My bold prediction: Cutler throws MORE Interceptions than last year

Defense will keep them respectably average. 8-8

History says he will throw about 20 interceptions. That's the average interceptions thrown in the first year Martz joins a team. No QB or QB tandem (Hill and O'Sullivan) have thrown more than 22 in their first season.
