I see a John Paxson/Del Negro fight between Jerry Angelo and Mike Martz soon. Because apparently Lovie is letting Martz do whatever he wants.....

That said, I agree. The QB protection on this team is fucking awful

Cutler, smutler. The real crime is letting Cutler veto personnel decisions on who'll be his backups.

As a result, Cutler is holding the Bears season hostage. So goes Cutler, so goes the season.

If the Bears had brought in Mark Bulger and kept Dan LeFevour, they'd be better off than with their current QB depth.

The OL sucks, but Cutler is more than half the problem. His insistence on throwing the ball down field instead of reading the blitz and dumping it off is ridiculous.

Yes. Agreed. He did the same thing in the Giants game.

I'm surprised how hard everyone is being on Cutler. I guess the honeymoon phase is over.

the O Line dissolves as easy as sandcastles against light waves at the beach but as stated above Jay has to be able to read the defense as well and throw the ball away when in trouble. Do they even allow Cutler to audible? Reading the D and changing some plays at the line of scrimmage might actually work every now n then...

Jerry Angelo is still waiting for WSCR listeners to give him some names of OL to go after.

Jerry Fuckface is still looking for some linemen with bad backs that he can bring in to go along with Chris Williams. That fucker is the first one that needs to go, and Coach Cleveland is second.

Apparently, Martz has never allowed audibles. There are only hot reads and mid route adjustments.

I do agree with Panther, Jay Cutler is being turned into a vegetable before our very eyes.

Bulger was the primary backup to Warner and eventual starting QB under Martz when Martz coached the Rams. Posting a 90+ QB rating 3 seasons and making a couple of Pro Bowls. Cutler, of course, made a Pro Bowl, but Cutler's never posted a season long QB rating over 90.

LeFevour is the only QB other than Vince Young in NCAA history to rush for 1000 yards and pass for over 3000 yards in the same season. LeFevour was also immune to injury, setting a major college football record by starting 50+ games in his college career.

Course, the pro game is a whole 'nother level and it'd likely be borderline child-abuse to play LeFevour behind the Bears current O-line; but I think an argument could be made that a QB who is a threat to run on every down would fair better than a relatively stationary, drop back and get sacked QB.

Cutler | Bulger | LeFevour is much more interesting than Cuter | Collins | Caleb.

I agree. While I gave Martz all the credit for the Dallas win, this loss is on his shoulders. We could have ran the ball to a victory today. He didn't even try.

When they traded for Cutler I was shocked and excited that the Bears would do such a thing that is so un Bear-like. I didn't care about his attitude, I just wanted to see the potential and talenthe had and was sure he would lead the beloved to the playoffs and beyond.

At this point they are turning him into a crappy QB. It's not all their fault, but the majority of the responsibility lies with the Bears. Martz is not a genius, but a buffoon that has zero imagination when it comes to adjustment from game to game.

If I were Cutler I would be looking for an out. At 27 years old it would be an absolute shame to see him have to retire due to head injuries because the stupid Bears couldn't and wouldn't protect him.

Dont blame Martz. He's running hus system. QBs get hit in his system. If they dont have the talent to run it, then you:

Get the talent
or
Dont hire Martz

Country,
+1...This team hasn't been the same since John Tait (LT) retired. They have not filled that position since and it has had a domino effect on the rest of the OL.

But...Martz diverged from his system when the Cowboys blitzed.

So why didn't he do so yesterday?

I recommend anyone who dislikes Cutler for anything more than his aloof attitude, look up the B&B segment with Dennis McKinnon today. The guy spelled it out in no uncertain terms. Debate over.

Cutler is a stud who has never played on a team with a cohesive o-line, going back to college, and it would be fitting to just assume that he was getting his ass clobbered when he was a kid. The guy put up gaudy numbers on a Denver team with a great WR corps, but no running game and a shit o-line. Drawing up a lost of QB's who have done that, or that would, and you are talking about some of the best.

The guy has everything going against him, and he still puts up decent numbers. His WR's are not even close to being fundamentally sound, let alone acceptable.. And this is an offense that needs all eleven players to excel at their various jobs, on every single play. But yeah, he is shell shocked, and this organization isn't going to make this right. It's pathetic.

As for Sunday, I couldn't watch anymore. I felt horrible for Cutler. I mean, Ive done 2 extended tours in Iraq, and one shorty in Afghanistan, and watching that was making me ill.

Neither have Ben Roethlisberger or Aaron Rodgers or a host of other QB's.

Rodgers and Roethlisberger were co-leaders in getting sacked in 2009, 50 times each for the season. Both posted season QB ratings over 100.

Cutler has never posted a season QB rating over 90.

Cutler was the 2nd least sacked QB in 2008 to Kerry Collins, Cutler sacked 11 times vs 8 for Collins on the season. A season in which Roethlisberger was sacked 47 times on the way to leading his team to another Super Bowl ring.

Heck, Matt Cassel led the Patriots to an 11-5 record leading all passers in sacks that year.

Cutler's been in the league 5 years now and hasn't posted a full season QB rating over 90 or led his team to the playoffs or even to a winning record. He is what he is. Cutler's apparently aware that he's not all that great, hence his veto of bringing in Bulger to be his backup. Image

This could be the worst O-line I've seen... well ever really.

That being said, Cutler has the most inconsistent looking mechanics of an "elite" QB. The scheme isn't helping either.
