Into the 1990s many fields weren't heated. Bears played games on real bad frozen artificial turf at Soldier Field. A lot of cold weather teams did until recently. It's not ideal but it can be done. You'd think this is the first time by what some are saying.
But the safety measures are readily available. It's not like they don't have other options.
If you were having surgery, and the hospital didn't have any anesthetics, would you stay there? Even if the next hospital had them? Back in the old days, people didn't have anesthetics. You'd be fine, right?
