Normally, I JA has a good 4-7 rounds but we are left hoping he was right on his early picks. I like feeling confident in early picks and hoping for the best with the 3rd day guys.

I consider the third round an early pick--and that seems to have been a pretty sever reach by all accounts.

The first two picks seem solid, though.

real talk: did you even know who the guy the bears selected with the third round pick was? or are you merely parroting hub and other draft experts who cried "REACH!" after that pick was made?

There did seem to be a lot of disagreement on Conte. I read a couple reports that had him a 3rd/4th round guy and others who had him a 7th rounder. Guess we will see who was right on it, and I completely get why people would think Angelo was wrong on him.

On the good side as you noted, the first 2 picks are real solid and should provide immediate help.

Usually you have to feel good about the round 4-7 guys because you don't have any early picks to feel good about.

real talk: how big of a clueless douche do you have to be to suggest that someone on this board would "parrot" hub?

That QB pick blows, should have went with a WR or RB.

I'll admit to not knowing crap about the QB they actually picked but didn't watching Todd Collins suit up in 3 games for the Bears including the biggest game of the season convince all of us that QB depth is something the Bears might want to look into shoring up for this upcoming season?

Phil,
I agree, but the guy they drafted reads like a slow-witted version of Kyle Orton.
They still need a vet at QB either at 3rd string or 2nd.

really? a safety for the 5th straight year? and he is slow and white and most mock drafts had him going late 6th or undrafted

Hanie is your vet at this point. I don't think they need to bring in another broke down Todd Collins type. Obviously I agree that this team had needs beyond QB but you aren't going to be able to address all of your needs when you end up only making 5 picks.

RB is the easiest position to fill in the NFL.

yes and no..but they break down quick...angelo should have been taking rb instead of safety the last 5 years until we got a great back..every safety this bum has drafted is a buster

Yes but Jerry's RB drafting has sucked too. The Bears would draft better if they went all chalk & just picked the best available player with every pick instead of thinking they are smarter than everyone else reaching for guys like Chris Williams, Conte, Bennett, & the list goes on & on & on...

see i think the later rounds are the best time to find a back..why invest so much money in the chalk rb's when they break down...late rounds are cheaper picks and i would draft speed one year and size the next until i got a nice combo.. i like forte...but i don't like him as an everydown back..he blocks poorly ..does not have great breakaway speed..great receiver but not that great off tackle

The Bears used a supplemental draft pick on RB Harvey Unga from BYU during training camp last year. They IRd him for the year and he will be at full strength this season. He would have easily been a middle round back this year.

He is white, but he isn't slow with a 40 time in the low 4.5s. For a 6'2" guy that is pretty good. Deride his production if you want but Conte's measurables are excellent.

As Grid mentioned elsewhere, Chris Conte looks like a bulked up Billy Joe Armstrong of Green Day.
