2011-12 Season stats
3 games: 6 tackles 1 forced fumble 3 sacks

With all the talk about the OL,Cutler,Martz.... JP has decided to be average (for him) the first 3 games. On one play, he was zeroing in on Rodgers last week with his arms down. Rodgers either completed it for the final TD or a big 1st down,I forgot which. I thought DL guys are taught if you can't get there in time, raise your arms and block the QB's view or deflect the pass.

Whatever, but anytime he wants to start making plays,it's fine with me. Don't give me this shit,he makes other guys around him better. He needs to step up.

One of the announcers called him out for not being ready on a play & dogging it.
Not every player is great every week & Peppers has a few games every year where he doesn't show up, but the games that he does show up for he's obviously great.

He's averaging a sack per game.

Jimmy, at this point I have to assume you're insane or Panther. Because you last week here has been fucking bizarre and I think you might have lost your everlovin mind.

Sacks don't matter as much. He hasn't been as disruptive as he was last season. I would argue Henry Melton has been the most disruptive player on the D-line.

Sure, Melton has been great, probably has nothing to do with Peppers at all.

Yeah,I'm nuts because a guy making 16 mil a year gets 2 tackles per game.
Your SIG has my original quote out of context. I guess you have an issue with me,for what reason I don't know. Just blatantly calling people on here nuts for having an opinion on sports, your the one that is batshit crazy...so live with that.

Chill out dude. I don't have issues with you... you're butter baby, you're on a roll is all.
Golly this internets is serious to you isn't it?? :?
Anyway, a guy getting a sack a game and being historically awesome deserves a bit of a break. Bears are asking him to play over 35 minutes a game (37 last week, 36 against NO). He's also gone against some pretty solid offenses.
All I'm saying is of all the people to call out I don't think Peppers deserves it.

Defensive lineman do not make many tackles.

3 sacks in 3 games.

He is fine.

DS,
Something gets lost in the translation with your "teasing". Yes,I agree but C'mon,6 tackles??? Also,I got pissed when I saw Rodgers complete that "back breaker" last week. I saw on the replay that it was Peppers rushing in on him with his arms down. The one guy on the line with the longest arms not using them.

RFDC,

Most of the current tackle leaders in the NFL right now are playing ILB. I understand DL don't make many tackles, but Peppers needs to start doing something besides almost getting to the QB.

I think it's all Melton. He isn't playing on the same side as Peppers. IMO that should change. Putting them on the same side would likely create a lot of chaos.

Peppers moves around, he doesn't just play on one side

Linemen that get high sack totals generally do not get high tackle totals.

2010 Top Five Sacking Linemen with Tackles
============================
Tamba Hali - 14.5 sacks, 37 tackles
John Abraham - 13 sacks, 35 tackles
Jason Babin - 12.5 sacks, 44 tackles
Charles Johnson - 11.5 sacks, 51 tackles
Justin Tuck - 11.5 sacks, 48 tackles
Osi Umenyora - 11.5 sacks, 33 tackles

2009 Top Five Sacking Linemen with Tackles
============================
Elvis Dumervil - 17 sacks, 41 tackles
Jared Allen - 14.5 sacks, 43 tackles
Dwight Freeney - 13.5 sacks, 19 tackles
Will Smith - 13 sacks, 37 tackles
Trent Cole - 12.5 sacks, 49 tackles

2008 Top Five Sacking Linemen with Tackles
============================
John Abraham - 16.5 sacks, 37 tackles
Jared Allen - 14.5 sacks, 41 tackles
Julius Peppers - 14.5 sacks, 40 tackles
Justin Tuck - 12 sacks, 52 tackles
Mario Williams - 12 sacks, 44 tackles

So if you prorate the sack/tackle rate for Peppers thus far, you get 2 tackles a game and 1 sack a game. This equates to a 16 sack, 32 tackle season. If you also consider that the Packers and Saints are easily two of the top ten teams in the game with two of the top ten quarterbacks in the game, you have to figure that these numbers are only going to improve over the season. 32 tackles is on the low end, but I would certainly take it from a guy getting 16 sacks and disrupting the passing game.

[Edit: Corrected the 2009 Trent Cole stats]

A more interesting take from that list is that he wasn't in the top 6 in Sacks last year and has only been in the top 5 once in the last 3 years.

Let's let Elmhurst Steve comment before we decide who has the most interesting take of all.

If Peppers was going against the Bears' O-Line every week, he'd average 3 sacks a game.

BTW, when the Bears wear the alternate jerseys, can we call him "Orange Julius"?

I agree with pasta. Pepper's is worthless. Cut him now and save your losses and money.

Cut him, cut Roy Williams, fire Lovie, and strangle Jerry Angelo

He may not have been in the top 6 in sacks last year but he was one of the best defensive players in football. He can finish a game with 3 tackles and 1 sack and dominate that game. Stats don't tell the whole story.

The middle of the line has been getting gouged for big big running plays all year. Melton has not been all that great.

Also, JimmyNoodles, during the Packers game I believe that Peppers was held twice, and there was at least one (possibly 2) false starts in front of him.

No. Lovie is a great head football coach.

The only thing flapping here is once again Darksides cuntlips.

Reading is a skill, most of you seem to lack. Here once again is my original statement with key words highlighted:
