Bears tackle Adams inactive vs. Eagles
by Vaughn McClure, Tribune reporter • Nov. 7, 2011
PHILADELPHIA -- Bears nose tackle Anthony Adams is among the inactives for Monday night's game against the Eagles. Adams started the previous two games in place of Matt Toeaina. But with Toeaina now recovered from a knee injury, the Bears decided to keep Adams in street clothes. His healthy doesn't appear to be an issue.
Lovie Smith indicated last week Adams needed to step up his play.
"He's been OK. He needs to play better,'' Smith said. "Kind of simple as that. That's what he'll say, that he needs to play better. And he does."
Smith delivered the same message to defensive tackle Henry Melton, who remains in the starting lineup Monday.
Also inactive for the Bears are running back Kahlil Bell, quarterback Nathan Enderle, defensive ends Corey Wootton and Mario Addison, tackle Gabe Carimi, and linebacker Jabara Williams.
Receiver Earl Bennett is active for the first time since suffering an upper body injury in Week 2. He is one of six active receivers.
Inactive for the Eagles are quarterback Mike Kafka, guard Kyle DeVan, guard Julian Vandervelde, tackle Winston Justice, defensive end Juqua Parker, and defensive end Phillip Hunt.
