I would bet that Jay is done for the year. The Lovie optimism is the typical Bears PR spin.

I have conversed with some athletic trainers about this injury (what it is thought to be since they haven't outright called it a Bennett fracture to my knowledge) and they say it is not probable that he returns. This bone is slow to heal hence the pins vs just a cast and once it is healed it will take a few weeks to get his grip strength and arm strength back.

Doe anyone actually believe he'll be back? Why would Lovie tell all the teams they have left that there's no chance Cutler returns? At least the Packers and Vikings now have to game plan for him, just in case.

They each have quite a few more games before they will game plan for the Bears. I think this is to keep the team playing hard and believing and to keep the fans believing. At least people can hold out hope now. If he said you will see him play his next game next season it would be hard to keep the faith.

Game plan for 6 weeks from now? Nah.

The Packers and Vikings will know if he will be back well in advance of their preparation week. It won't be a secret.

It really depends on the type of fracture. But more than likely he is done.

My point being that you can't trust anything Lovie says.

I wouldn't mind, however, seeing Cutler listed as "out" for the Vikings game, then playing anyway (if he's ready to go).

I think he takes a few snaps in the Vikings game, then starts at the NFC East winner for the playoffs 8)

His prognosis is good. He's engaged again.

RT from ZZ: Encouraging to see Jay Cutler throwing the ball with Bears director of rehabilitation Bobby Slater earlier today.

Too late. Bears will lose all the games in betwixt those and be out of the running.
