I've heard so much speculation on the recovery with nobody saying exactly what is broken. Finally I heard the NFL network say it's a "Bennett's fracture". Here's Wikipedia's description of this fracture. They say it's a 4-6 week recovery. Now, that's for a normal person just left to heal on their own. I'll bet Cutler will be getting electric stimulation and other treatments to speed up the healing. So it's more likely it's only 4 weeks. Maybe less. I don't doubt that we'll get him back for the season closer in Minnesota. I wouldn't be shocked if he plays the GB game if we need it. I don't think we will.

Fuck, he might be alright by the time the turkey is finished Thursday night.

Who's family will he be going to on Thanksgiving, his or Kristen's?

Stim will not help the bone heal faster. It will help with range of motion and the physical therapy after.

I don't understand this. If he can begin rehab right away, then, one would assume he won't be in a cast. I thought a fracture of this type, especially if it requires surgery, requires immobilization.

It's great news if he doesn't need the cast. I just don't quite understand.

Also, what is there to rehab already? I thought you rehab after an injury has healed, and atrophy has set in.

Fine. But didn't Albert Pujols recover a month ahead of time with a broken wrist? Do what he did. There is some speed up methods that Doctors will have for him. I know it's about oxygen and blood flow for bones to heal quicker. Take some calcium pills or injections to help. Get a mini hyperbolic chamber just for his hand. He can sleep with it on. Some athletes sleep with their entire body in these chambers. They've got stuff. He'll be back for the Vikings game.

Fuck it. Get some HGH to Halas hall. That's a recovery drug. Or have Culter borrow some of Forte's. The NFL still isn't officially testing for it. Although they keep saying they're close.

The only thing that may actually do something is that controversial procedure that Tiger and other athletes have been rumored to have had where they inject enriched blood platelets or something into the area to promote healing. I think you have to go to Canada though to get it.

Peyton Manning went to Europe or somewhere to have this done.

If he is pinned, he might not need a hard cast, just a splint.

The tried and true cure here is cider. He should get over to Kristen's and soak that thumb in cider. They both will feel better.

You have absolutely zero idea about how the human body works/heals if you think doctors can "speed up" a bone fracture healing process.

Screw you. Explain how Pujols' broken wrist healed a month a head of time then? I'm waiting. Oh, you can't explain it. I don't know how it's done. I know it can be done. They have stuff. Every day people don't need to speed up the healing process for broken bones. Nor do they have the money and access to aquire the means to do so. Elite athletes need these methods and have the money. Or their teams supply the money and access. That's why they get the special treatment.

10 years ago you would have laughed if somebody said old people can have errections. Then Viagra was invented and 80 year olds are banging again. Elite people had these pills before it was given to the general public. Don't be a fool. Why the hell is Magic Johnson still alive when everybody else who got HIV in 1990 is dead? Can you answer that? Don't be stupid. Things can be done for people with money.

I think what beardown may be saying is it may not be legal, but it can be done...

Maybe. But maybe not. It could be legal methods. I'm just saying most people just go with natures way of healing bones. 2 weeks quicker doesn't mean much to every day people. Not worth the money or effort. Why bother? Why investigate methods? 2 weeks means everything to Cutler and the Bears.

If he gets sacked and thrown on that hand, or knocks his hand into a helmet while passing, we are fucked long term. I venture the forces in baseball and football are a lot different (obviously). I am not sure you can compare Pujols and Cutler or expect similar results.

Squeezing that baseball bat and swinging 5 to 10 times a game is pretty traumatic if that wrist isn't completley healed. Especially the way Pujols swings. It was healed. That's what I'm saying.

I'm not saying put Cutler in if the bone isn't healed. I'm saying the bone will be healed by the Viking game. That there will be no extra risk to him playing.

How'd that work out for Steve Jobs? Michael Jackson?

Some say that at times rich people actually get worse health care than middle class because they have access to all kinds of quackery and myriad specialists (which can cause the loss of a wholistic approach) that the middle class doesn't.
