If not for the Cutler discussions, the loss of Mannelly would be on the front burner as a major problem going forward. Laptad (?) is the replacement. I know they liked him in preseason. I also know he was an undrafted free agent.

This amounts to, if nothing else, another change to the already massively changed and only adequate offensive line. I think we have to anticipate problems. False starts that effect FGs, blocked punts, blocked and missed FGs, sailing punt snaps are all much more likely than they were last week.

In the Oakland game, for a start, it is easy to assume that Hanie may manage and move the offense within the 20s. It is unlikely that he will lace a ball through a compressed defense in the endzone. What Martz has done well this year is design some nice red zone gainers and scoring plays. Hanie probably doesn't have the talent or practice to execute them like Cutler.

The Bears will be attempting FGs just like they settled for in prior years. So the loss of Cutler means TD scoring problems. The loss of Mannelly means FG scoring problems.

It's a double whammy. Hopefully, after the loss I expect at Oakland, these guys are acclimated and capable.

How is a new long snapper going to cause false starts?

I propose finding a backup center who can also serve as your long snapper and stop wasting a roster spot.

Laptad was so close to a ticket to ride BearForce 1.
