All this shit about Caleb, Josh, etc....never thought any of it would matter if Jay could not come back for the playoffs at the very least.

Not one of these fucking "reporters" media asswipes have asked the simple question!

Its a moot point, so it doesn't matter.

Besides, all you would get is the same bullshit Lovie response;
"Look, that's up to our medical staff. We're trying to win a football game. Once the doctors tell me Jay can play, he can play. Until then we're gonna play the quarterback that gives us the best chance to win"

I seriously doubt it. This whole thing just smelled of good old Lovie "Let's be mysterious so teams have to gameplan for him!" transparent attempts at trickery.

You left out the part about how they are trying to finish this fourth quarter strong.

Agree with everyone. No way he comes back.

You could tell from the press conference after surgery. Everytime a reporter tried to mention a timeframe he got more vague and steered conversation away from a possible return.

No. This time round he said that "we want to start off 2012 at 1-0."

Before the Denver game he was throwing passes on the sidelines.

How far and with how much velocity, I have no idea BUT MAYBE ONE OF THE 18 MEDIA PEOPLE THAT FOLLOW THE BEARS EVERY CRAP MIGHT JUST ASK THE QUESTION.

I always just thought it was a 50/50 thing for game 1 of the playoffs

Well throw in the term "quarter" in there somewhere...I don't know if I've ever heard a presser where he didn't use that...

Yes, we know it does not matter anymore (thanks to Frank, Master of the obvious), but I would like to know if Angelo/Lovie blew the season or did a chance exist that Cutler was going to be able to really play QB.

Beating Denver, KC, Oakland are all very possible to be W's with Donovan Mcnabb! yes, the fat, out of shape, didnt want to to play, D McNabb could have carried this team in those games with some simple plays and simple passes.

For 12+ years in the NFL D McNabb was "The Good guy", always the team guy, the leader, etc. in 2 years from Wash and Minn he became the bad guy?

Do I think McNabb could have been close to what he was, hell no, but I am sure he would not have been Caleb!

Yes, I am also aware of the "The offense is so complex that he could have never just played here" excuse to cover their asses.

They have an excuse for everything! But it will come out in time, Jay will make a comment..."Yeahhh, I was ready to play 2 days after I got the pins out....but thats doesnt matter...." would be good enough for me.

Bears brass will likely say no, he would not have been able to play...because that would gloss over the fact that the true shame of this season was not having competent backups at key positions. A win or two over the weak AFC opponents would have gotten us into the playoffs, and if we didn't go very deep in the postseason due to Jay's injury (whether he played or not), fans would have accepted it as tough luck. The way this season ended was not tough luck. It was incompetence at the GM level.

Not really relying upon Bears brass for an answer. Would like to hear one reporter give me an opinion because they saw Jay throw, or asked if Jay threw to another player, or ASKED JAY!

The sad thing is that Lovie is so paranoid that he wont start Nathan Enderle because he is afraid that if he plays well it will make Lovie look bad & everyone will question the Bears talent evaluation, & why they didnt play Enderle earlier. Josh McCown has no business starting this game.

Is McCown a candidate for the backup QB job next year? If so then McCown must start. If not and you plan on keeping Enderle next year then yes Enderle should start.

If neither then you start McCown because he gives you the best chance of winning.

The mysterious of the time line could also have been complicated by Jay's diabetes which does affect recovery.

There isn't exactly a long list of quarterbacks who have played with diabetes or any pro athletes to go on with recovery time.

They say he might have been able to play this week. Obviously there's no reason to.

I agree someone should have asked. Of course it doesn't matter but it would clear some things up.

It provided hope for the playoffs. If the Bears could have survived against a bunch of bad teams then Cutler could have provided a boost going into the playoffs. If Cutler wasn't going to be able to play then the Bears really never had a shot doing anything meaningful. Making the playoffs isn't a big thing around here. SB or bust.

That doesn't make a lick of sense. How would knowing Jay could have played today given you hope?

Why is this so hard for you to understand? We would know if our hope was false or not. Just as important as all the other questions being asked.

McCown has put himself in the conversation. Prior to the previous two games, I wouldn't have guessed that he would have. If they do resign him, I also suspect that they may also add another QB via the draft to either challenge Enderle for the 3rd spot or outright improve it with a 3rd/4th round selection.

That's how I feel at your inability to understand something that's fairly simple. It's like you're trying your best to play the role of Bernstein but you suck at it.

There is absolutely no reason for the Bears to release that information. Not a single reason. Appeasing stupid fans who need someone to tell them if their feelings for the past few weeks were warranted is ludicrous. How would that get them closer to a championship?

Further, they probably didn't even have to enter that decision making process, so they probably couldn't even answer that question. The game was meaningless, so I doubt they would run tests on him to see if he could have played just in case some fans were having upset tummies over their confusing feelings.
