Only Twelve MOTHERPHUCKING HOLES

LT- Free agency or draft. Possibly use #19 pick on this.

WR1 and 2: 1 Free ajent. Colston, Wayne, V. Jackson. 1 draft pick. Possibly use #19 pick on this

LE- Draft (always a lot of pass rushers in the draft. Should be easy to find one who can come in and play right away and benefit from Peppers. It SHOULD be.)

CB- Has to be draft. Good corners are rarely avaliable in FA. Possibly use #19 pick on this

FS- This can be had in FA I think/hope. Certainly can find better talent that what you have.

ROLB, MLB, LOLB- Draft, Draft, Draft. There are a ton of LB coming out and a team in need SHOULD be able to get two starters.

DT- If there's a good FA maybe, if not a late draft pick and continue to deveolp Melton

Swing Tackle- Free agency

FB- Free agency

Also, I would look into moving Hester off the books. Leave the win with ST and Defense mindset behind. As special as Hester is, he just makes too much money.

Oh and it's time to move on from Lovie and Angelo. They are becoming increasingly useless in this offensive league.

Disagree on Lovie. I don't think there's a coach who has consistently done more with less.

Dwayne Bowe to fill your WR1 Slot.

Interesting. Looks like I was one year early on the "replace Hester" bandwagon.

I have just recently jumped off the Lovie bandwagon

Lovie is a good coach, but he is NOT a great one and that is what I want for the Bears.

Bill Parcells, Bill Belicheck, John Fox even.

None of these guys would let one injury completely derail a season that was well on their way to the playoffs.

I lost some respect for Lovie as a coach. And this will be the THIRD time in his tenure that he put in a backup QB that was compeltely useless.

He has ZERO offensive talent evaluation acumen.

3 Quarterbacks broke the passing record this year.

We can no longer afford to have an old school defensive minded coach who is married to an antiquated system.

Are they available? If so, count me on board for firing Lovie.

The grass isn't always greener.

Lovie is an above average NFL coach who hasn't been given 1/5th of the talent of those QB's who broke passing records this year. It's a good thing he is a defensive minded coach or this franchise would be enjoying multiple 3 win seasons the past 10 years.

Jerry Angelo is, and continues to be, the problem.

There are coaches available that are better than Lovie.

Bill Cowher for one.

The point is its becoming more and more of an offensive league. Having a defensive minded cover-2 loving head coach is not the way to go.

The 3 best teams in the NFL all have bottom ranked defenses.

What? How do you know what another coach would have done?

I think you are overrating Lovie because you have justified anger at Angelo

Agreed and if it's one or the other Id get rid of Angelo.

But I dont think Angelo as GM or Lovie Smith as Head Coach will ever win a Super Bowl

Agreed. But why not try to have both? The failures of our WR's, Oline and QB position for the past decade fall on Jerry. A top 10 offense and defense sounds spectacular to me. Lovie has proven he can coach a top flight defense. If you are going to argue that he can't coach/hire the right people for a top 10 offense, that's a fair point but I'd continue to point to the talent level.

I don't. I do know what Lovie has done which is be 14 games over .500 which is impressive to my eye.

We were in the Super Bowl with Rex Grossman as our QB. I'm not confident in saying that Lovie can't win one.

tons of holes to fill ..i want bowe here..earl can be a good #2 if bowe was here...angelo and smith need to go together, lovie has alot of input on all these bust safeties the bears have drafted in the last 5 years..lovie is not a good talent evaluator on offense or defense and neither is angelo. lovie hired martz and wanted archuletta, pace ..he fired rivera and hired babich. tommie harris does not get those extensions and roster bonuses without lovie backing it.lovie is too slow to react in almost every singe way you can be in important decisions. from not realizing grossman sucked to hester is not a #1 wideout..to hanie costong the bears a postseason birth. and his awful timeouts/challenges and poor game day decisions.

no matter the system the bears employed as a base defense the defense would be pretty good with peppers and urlacher and tillman/briggs..so lovie and his system is not the reason the defense is solid...lovie is the 4th highest paid head coach in the nfl..he is not even close to being a top 5 coach, but he is probably the smuggest sob in the nfl. i think martz/angelo/phillips/smith should share all the blame and be fired at the same time.

I don't disagree with this. But its time for a change. There needs to be an entirely new set of voices at Halas Hall. Get rid of Lovie and Angelo today.

See...the Bears have some glaring holes, but I also think that they have a good enough core (defense, Cutler, Forte, etc) to compete next year. The problem is that they look to be light years behind the Packers in terms of offense.

I agree that they can compete next year. I wouldn't call of these positions holes. They can be upgraded but right before Cutler got hurt many people were making a justified argument that the Bears were a top 5 team in the NFL.

John Fox? Please.

He does not even belong in the conversation. What has he done to show he is better than Lovie?

If you can get Cowher then I am GREAT with it. But other than that I do not see too many coaches out there that would be any better than Lovie. I am good with replacing him, I just do not see many who would be better.

Angelo on the other hand has to go.

That wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing, Dan. Keep Tice though.

If it takes losing Lovie and the staff to get rid of Angelo then I am good with that.

I like Lovie, and I think he has done an admirable job with what he has been given, but it is time for change and if a new GM wants to start over with the staff then that should be the way to go.

And if that does happen, that plays right into the defense players' hands. They love playing the 'us against the world' card. If the Bears got an entirely new staff after losing 5 of 6 games to end the season, and playing in the same division as 2 other playoff teams (one of which won 15 games), nobody would give them a chance. I believe the locker room would absolutely use that to their advantage.

No Im not firing Lovie for being defensive minded...Im firing him for ONLY being defensive minded.

I like to believe a great coach would have found a way to piece together an offense good enough to win 3 of the final 6 and make the playoffs.

All the coaches I named have succeeded through injuries and QB weirdness.

Ill throw Jeff Fisher too.

Agree to disagree.

That was a lifetime ago by league standards. Lovie is a great coordinator.

Get rid of Angelo first, by all means.

Yeah, this wasnt a fire lovie thread. Its more "the organization needs an overhaul and a new way of doing things....and winning with defense is the past."

My point being we have a 17 season body of work suggesting Fisher is an average coach. I don't remember anything about his tenure that leads me to think he would be a better coach than Lovie.

Lovie has ZERO creativity.

If everything goes PERFECTLY he is fine.

He cant coach thru adversity.

How about Bill Walsh?
