It sounds like the Bears are not going to be the highest bidder for his services which makes me doubt they will get him.

I see the next option as Colston, who I consider a few steps below Jackson. After Colston I see a few more steps until the next group of WR.

I think the best course of action is to be competitive for Colston but not overbid. If he can't be had, sit back and only pay market value for the rest of the WR. Target another position. Then draft a WR #1 and hope he can play from the beginning.

I would like to see them focus their FA money on defense with Mario Williams, Finnegan, etc. And then focus the draft on WR and OL.

Not a huge fan of Colston. Everyone seems to think he is a "product of the system." His size is good, but he can't stretch the field.

I'm all about Pierre Garcon. Been seeing a lot of people gushing over him lately. Good size, great hands and can stretch the field. Also only 25. He's my new favorite, and he should be a tad cheaper than VJax.

If the rumors of the pursuit of Mario Williams are true, this may all be a moot point and he is going to cost an arm and a leg. Probably moves the WRs targets down a notch.

THis is probably what they will do, but its time they put some money into giving Cutler a couple of weapons.

I want them to do that too. But this year's WR draft class is extremely deep, they can probably get 2 WRs in the draft that can come in and help Cutler immediately.

For the love of God...any one of the free agent WR's would be a huge upgrade for the Bears, who currently have garbage at that position. I'll take Colston, who "doesn't stretch the field", & Garcon & his "stone hands", right fucking now.

You take them "right fucking now" and then in "two fucking seasons" you will be bitching about how much $ those guys are getting and how Emery signed them for too long. If they can get a guy for the right price, grab him by all means. If not, put $ into the OLine and defense.

the bears do not need to match other teams money..just ask zack zaidman "everyone loves to play for lovie" that is why peppers came here, not the most money or the fact that no other team went after peppers besides a lowball offer from the patriots..it was lovie that closed the deal.

Colston will be seen as the consolation prize but have a way better year than Jackson.

Hope they get either.

The Bears are what, $30 Million under the cap? That's enough money to help at WR, OL, & D. Hopefully Emery wont spend $ foolishly on washed up ex Rams. The Bears can contend next year now that Matrz is gone, providing they get a couple of WR's & OL & Maybe a DB.
Screw the Defense. I'm tired of the Bears always spending money on the D while the Offense blows. Take a look at the playoff teams last year, besides to Niners & Giants, there wasn't a good Defense among them.
Let Jay sling the ball around. Enough of this "we gotta run da ball like Ditka did"
No. Enough already.

  Yeah, The Giants haven't won anything with a great defense. You're a trip, scorehead.

Besides both teams in the NFC title game and the eventual SB champ.  Yeah Defense is really overrated.

The defense is aging and some of their troubles are because they are on the field too long and the offense puts them in bad positions. If they fix the offense that will help the defense. And Cutler should have something around him.

I agree 100%. I'm just saying don't way overpay for a big WR. I'm not talking in terms of money, but in years. My original point to scorehead was that he would be the first guy bitching 3 years from now that Jackson is making too much money and Emery was an idiot for signing him. Scorehead is the type of guy that if he found a suitcase with $10,000 in it, then he would bitch and moan about 9500 of it being in singles.

True story; About 15 years ago, my Wife leaves the house for work in the morning, she gets a couple of blocks away from the house, & she sees a purse laying in the middle of the street. She stops the car, picks it up, looks inside, & there is an envelope full of cash...$5K in hundreds & 50's. She finds the Woman's wallet & calls her to tell her that she found her purse. Turns out the Woman set her purse on top of her car, forgot about it & drove off. The $ was from a Church fundraiser & she was on the way to the bank. My Wife drove to her house & gave the purse back to her. She got flowers out of the deal.
