Having had my fill of crow (predicting the 'Gulls to beat the Beloved) and a strong kool-aid buzz, I'm wondering if it isn't time to put Lovie in Canton.

I know he got Coach of the Year honors, but is it enough? Has he been given the credit in Chicago that he deserves?

What do you think?

Let's look at the facts:

He took over the team after Jauron had been fired. Why was Jauron fired?

His first year was the year of the hammie pulls. (Blamed on his his mandate to get leaner and quicker)

Year 2 he guided the team to a first round bye in the playoffs with a rookie qb.

Year 3, Q1. He has the team 4-0 and on a roll.

He's done some pretty great things so far in his tenure, and this year has all the makings for something very special.....BUT IT'S STILL ONLY BEEN 4 GAMES

His pedigree is pretty solid now, but certainly does NOT have the makings of a HoF coach....as of yet.

Did you dump a bottle of Jack into your Kool-Aid?

Notinthebiz, I appreciate your enthusiasm, and I'll assume your comments are tounge in cheek. Let's not discount the impact of one Ron Rivera, once he gets the coaching gig in Tennesse next season lets see how this defense performs.

And Ron Turner is no slouch either. How many other coordinators would have gotten as much out of Kyle Orton and the offense as Turner did last year? And that was only after the Terry Shea debacle; not Lovie's brightest move. And was it Lovie who was instrumental in bringing Turner back, or was it Jerry Angelo?

Why would you want to? Just drink the Kool Aid and enjoy its effects...

My face has turned a bright Bears orange, and that's not because I'm wearing a jack o' lantern on my head, my friends. Hey Kool-Aid!

I agree that Lovie Smith(along with all the bears defense) should be enshrined in Canton, OH today. My one worry is that he go down as the most boring speech in HOF history.

He isn't the most charismatic guy in the world, no doubt. But he's the first Bears coach where I can actually understand what he's talking about after a game.
