Meh, glad to have him in the fold. He's a good player. I doubt this will be some cap-buster.

Anything more than 1 year was a bad idea. Forte is at the end of his "good" shelf life. The last 3 years of this deal will be Forte looking like Shaun Alexander at the end.

Bad.

That's what the Bears wanted. Forte wanted more. That seems more than reasonable. Obviously the guaranteed money is the thing that matters the most. It's likely a back loaded deal and he won't probably see the last year of it unless he is still playing at this level.

Forte is only 26, I think he has 3-4 good years left.

Alexander signed a 8 yr deal. Forte is 4. That takes him til he is 30 yrs old. That seems pretty reasonable to me.

Forte isn't even 30. Considering the Bears have more offensive weapons it is very likely Forte will be even more productive because he won't be forced to carry the load by himself and he won't see 8 and 9 guys in the box.

I don't think it will be anywhere near that bad, and I'm talking full scale. Won't be that bad in terms of length, money, and lack of productivity. And if something crazy happens and it does get that bad, the Bears cut him and save some of that $

I am ok with signing him to a 4 year deal. Like it was said, only the guaranteed money matters. They just cut you if you suck, and that is reason enough for Forte to play hard. NFL contracts are nothing like baseball. Now you have to be sure to draft his replacement because the shelf like is real short for NFL RB's.

I'm excited about seeing him and Bush in the backfield. This offense is going to be great next season.

Going to have to agree to disagree.

I don't like the deal. At all.

Four years is OK but the cap hits in 2015 and 16 will be hard. Because the contract is so short Forte will get most of that money, or be really bad. Hopefully not the later.

Those people are now firmly in the "This guy is overpaid!" camp as soon as he has another one of his games where he has under 100 yards combined rushing/receiving.

It will be interesting to see what his receiving numbers look like this year since you expect that he'll get less chances now that Marshall is here.

I still don't know what to make of Forte. His statistics seem to come from small clusters of insane fantasy football statistics and the rest is below average rushing totals combined with average receiving totals.

Oh, and he always seems to dominate against Detroit besides the last time he played them.

I'm excited for Leery's reaction. He should be in full-on suck-up-to-both-sides mode. "I've gotta tell you, DAN, it's not often that a contract makes sense for both the player and the team. But in my opinion, this is a greet deal for the Beers, AND a greet deal for Matt Forte, DAN."

I think he started the season rushing well but kind of fell off toward the middle of the season. I think he's even more of a receiving threat with the addition of Marshall. Marshall will spread the field and those 3 yard passes that he had to make a guy miss on will go for even more yards. The pounding he took will all the 8 man fronts will go away too. He'll be fresher and more productive. Having Bush back there helps too. The Raiders did well with their 2 man system.

He was a big play back last season. His receiving numbers will hopefully go down with the Bears using Marshall, Bennett, Hester and the TE's more now.

He's a very good RB.

I think Forte is no worse that a top 7 RB. He's entering his prime years and has proven that he is durable. This will be the year that the offense will be better than the defense.
