Ron Turner "trusts" Rex and lets him throw the ball. Hopefully no one gets hurt on the new field, and Jones/Benson rack up the yardage.

Bears =17
Pats = 14

I've abstained 9 weeks, and the Bears won all 9. I picked once, and they lost. I'll go ahead and abstain again.

Why so high scoring ?

Unless Grossman gives them the ball with field position, how is NE going to put up 20 points ?

When Reche Caldwell is your best WR, I don't care how good Brady is.

If the Bears can keep the NE running game in check, they win.

Bears 24-17.

Bears D returns a late 4th quarter pick for TD, stunning the Foxboro crowd.

My mind is failing at the moment, how did the offense do against those teams? I do not recall anything that looked like progress in knowing how to attack those defenses over 8 quarters

Holmes brought up a point that I agree with, that newly installed turf definitely benefits the Bears. Still I think we will see the Pats run the no huddle 4 receiver set they showed against Minny. Bears had some trouble with that pace last week.

Nas, I think you are hoping against hope if you think the Pats are going to be turning the ball over. The hallmark of the Brady era is low interception/turnover rate.

I think the Patriots will follow two things that seemed to move the ball against the Bears - spread em out and go no huddle. (Arizona and Jets)
Even though both teams didn't score a ton against the Bears they were able to move the ball successfully in those schemes. The Bears O has struggled against the 3-4.

Nas you said the Seattle game was the statement game. There are no more meaningful games for the Bears this regular season. They've got 4 cup cakes in their remaining 6 games. So they will coast to the home field advantage. That doesn't mean the Bears won't play hard but games don't mean anything until January. The players know this so there will be no sense of urgency. It's only natrual. Bears play hard in this one cuz its the Pats but the Pats need this more. Right now they are fighting the Ravens and Colts to get a bye for the playoffs.

Patriots- 17
Bears- 10

I know that the players are not as good. However, Belicek does a great job of disguising what he is doing. This makes their defense especially tough on inexperienced QB's.

Not me Nas. I had them at 12-4 to start the year like you. So even you had them for 4 loses. Don't be offended cuz I don't think they'll win. I had them winning the Giant and Seattle game.

I'm mereley saying this isn't a statement game. The Bears have a cushion and a loss here will mean shit. The Bears are gonna have two home playoff games. Bears beat Carolina in the regular season last year. How did that help them in the playoffs? I'm just saying a win here means nothing and a lose here equally means nothing. I just happen to think they'll lose. That's all.

Ok fine. But don't confuse people picking the Patriots as saying the Bears are garbage. Patriots are a good team and at home. They are a lock for the playoffs but are fighting for seeding and a bye. Super Bowl teams throught the years do lose games. It's not the end of the world.

This game will prove two things..
One, the Bears are the best team in the NFL.
Two, Rex is not the weak link (F U Sal Palantonio!)

Even if it proves they are the best team in the NFL (I don't think it does) what the hell does that mean? This isn't college where rankings are important. It's all gonna come down to who's healthy going into the playoffs. Who's performing at top capacity and who can perform best in those sudden death playoff games.

Everybody gets caught up in this who's best in week 9,10,11. Why? We have playoffs in the NFL. It will be decided there.

When the Bears win it will show they can beat the top teams from either league. Giants, beaten..Seahawks, beaten...etc.

That would give me a lot of confidence going into the Superbowl.

Just my opinion.

You can have that opinion. But the Bears proved they could beat Carolina in the regular season last year. Didn't help. In 1988 the Bears beat the 49ers in a 10-9 monday night game. (Dent went horizontally air born to make a tackle in that game) They went on to lose to the 49ers in the playoffs. There have been countless examples of great teams having big wins in the regular season (Colts last few years).

Here's the ultimate example: In 1985 the Dolphins beat the greatest team ever. They went on to lose to the wild card Patriots in the playoffs.

I'm not saying they won't be in the Super Bowl. But the playoff games will be independent of any game in the regular season. Usually if you're in the playoffs you've had big wins. Both teams playing each other have had big regular seaon wins. I think it's just become something that sounds good so people say it. "This game proves alot"

How will the Bears lose by 2 TD's? NE doesn't force a lot of TO's and they are only scoring 23 points a game. The Bears are giving up 12.

And the Pats D are giving up 13.1 a game.

That being said:

Bears - 13.1
Pats - 12

Grossman showed me alot last week. He played a smart game and let his D and T.Jones win the game for him. I didn't think he had an "ortin" game in him.

The Bears finish a 3-0 road sweep, sending a message to the rest of the league. Monsters of the Midway are BACK!!!

I agree Kid. I think this game will be a real measuring stick to show where the Bears are in this League. Especially against a successful veteran coach and a highly experienced championship team that can really confuse and attack you.

But by no means is this about pride or respect or making a statement and they won't be sending a message to anyone.

I am very tempted to make a mass nomination in the D-Bag section listing everyone who made references to:

- a statement game
- [Bears] proving something
- sending a message
- pride
- respect
- Belichick's wisdom
- "style" of the Pats' defense [as something that the Bears have gotten accustomed to from previous games. 3-4 alignment alone does not provide an exhaustive specification of "style."]

- a statement game

1-0, 2-0, 3-0 Media, "Bears havn't played anyone"
4-0, 5-0, 6-0 Media, "Nice start, but wait until the east coast games to see how good they REALLY are."
6-1, 7-1, Media, " Grossman can't play against the Blitz. They will be lucky to go 1-3 on the east coast trip."
8-1 Media, " Giants where banged up."
9-1 Media, " Did you see the Dallas game!"
Darn right this is a statement game!
Before this trip the Bears where a excellent home team and a questionable road team. Everyone said, "wait until the coast games to see how good this team really is." The Bears a 2-0 on this trip and only NE stands between them and reaching the goal of sweeping the road trip. I wouldn't want to be NE this Sunday.

- [Bears] proving something

Do you think they are going to win the superbowl? Or are you waiting for them to PROVE they are a good enough team to win it all?

- sending a message
The message is: We don't care who you put infront of us. Home/Road, doesn't make a difference. We will beat the snot out of all the teams in the NFL.

- pride

If you play without pride then you don't need to worry about....
- respect

- Belichick's wisdom

Yeah, this guy just might be the greatest defensive mind of all time. Big deal

Make your nomination for D.bag. My guess is you will receive your own special nomination at the top.
