It sounds like Coach is trying to really downplay it but it can't be something they are thrilled about....especially after Marshall just got done talking about how he isn't medically where he wants to be as far as recovering from off season surgery.

I do. Worried this is due to his BPD.

Bernstein's journo buddy from Miami says this is to be expected year 2 and forward from Brandon "The Grifter" Marshall.

This would never happen with Lovie as coach.

Seriously though .... I think we all hope to high-heaven that it's just like they say .... but we all damn well have seen too many times when it's not remotely reflective of the actual circumstances.

Yes, very disconcerting.

The Bears’ demise last season, when they finished 10-6 after the 7-1 start, continued a familiar pattern that has followed Marshall throughout his NFL career. In 2006, the Broncos lost four straight after a 7-2 start; in 2007, the Broncos lost four out of five late in the season to fall out of playoff contention; in 2008, the Broncos lost their last three games to go from leading the division to out of the playoffs; in 2009, the Broncos lost eight of their last 10 after a 6-0 start; in 2010 the Dolphins lost their last three and four of their last five. In 2011, the Dolphins went 5-3 inthe second half, but only after a 1-7 start. There’s always something.

This is just atrocious, Zaidman-ish type "reasoning" that has no place in any professional publication. There's no "familiar pattern" here, just some amateur, post-fact reasoning from a writer who doesn't know anything about causality, or the lack thereof.

Anyway, Marshall's attitude will obviously be an issue and one of Trestman's first, major tests in his capacity as a "leader of men." I sure hope the WR coaches and whoever else is there, including Cutler I guess, figure out how to make things work. Without an engaged Marshall, the offense will suffer now matter how crisp and coordinated Trestman can make it look.

BMarsh is on Twitter doing a Q&A right now. Making it sound like it's his hip.

Now this:

Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter 8m
WR Brandon Marshall is upset Bears have not taken his concerns about his hip injury seriously.

That is a problem. Why would they not be on the same page about this? I don't think anyone would consider Marshall soft and someone who doesn't want play. This has to be a cover for something else he is pissed about.

One of Brandon Marshall's teammates sounded like he spends too much time thinking about BMarshall's body, "he's got a great body, he could pose naked in a magazine".

Marshall can talk all he wants. All I give a shit about is that he answers the bell come game time. He is an amazing athlete .

I don't find it even slightly concerning. I find it to be the kind of stuff that gets reported in the off week during a season, which is essentially what this is.

jesus christ i get shit for calling out the biggest pussy on the bulls, while brandon has a legit reason to not be ready- especially for a game that will aim to re-injure him.

what the fuck.

It's the week before the season starts and we have two shitty baseball teams. Of course sports talk radio is going to act like this is the biggest news ever. Marshall will be back and ready to dominate week 1.
