I know all of the problems the Bears have. I still want to break down the playoffs for them.

1. Bears will have to sweep the Packers to win the division. A split means Packers are North champs. That's simple.

2. Wild Card: 49ers will have one of the two slots. Bears are pretty much going against the Lions and...wait for it... THE PANTHERS.

There. Packers will probably win the North. Will the Bears have a better record and or the tie breaker vs the Lions or Panthers. I say yes.

What do you think, Chicago?

Discuss.

Carolina's remaining schedule is brutal. Saints twice. 49ers. Jets. Patriots. Dolphins. Falcons (not a good team so far) 2x's.

Eagles get Giants, Raiders, Redskins, Vikings. Cowboys last week of the season, might not mean anything for Dallas.

Bears at Eagles on Dec 22nd might be for a playoff spot.

You can lose that Packers game in two weeks. YOU CAN'T LOSE THE LIONS GAME IN 3 weeks @ Soldier Field. That would mean the Lions would have the tie breaker with the 2-0 series sweep and the wild card tie breaker. So we won't know for sure that the Bears will make it after a win in that game. If they lose, we'll know they won't make it, though.

Lions are kind of the same suck show as the Bears.

Dome team starts to become a disadvantage playing on the road once you get to November-December

Lions have a much easier schedule too. Because they started off with 4 of their first 6 games on the road, they'll have 4 of their last 6 at home. Yeah, that Lions game will be huge.

Now it's interesting. 2 weeks ago, I conceded the division. Not anymore.

The NFC north contenders have easy schedules. Carolina has some tough games. All 4 teams have 4 road and 4 home games left.

Bears (5-3)
Lions
Ravens
@Rams
@Vikings
Cowboys
@Browns
@Eagles
Packers

Packers
Eagles
@Giants
Vikings
@Lions
Falcons
@Cowboys
Steelers
@Bears

Lions (5-3)
@Bears
@Steelers
Bucs
Packers
@Eagles
Ravens
Giants
@Vikings

Panthers (5-3)
@49ers
Patriots
@Dolphins
Bucs
@Saints
Jets
Saints
@Falcons

Like the said last night, Bears v. Lions, Lions v. Packers, Packers v. Bears are all huge games

Bears need this one and there is little in the matchup that falls in their favor.

Let's all pray for weather to be an issue Sunday.

Does anybody want to throw Philly in that last opening for the Wild Card. I don't.

Packers, Bears, and Lions should still all win 10+ games. Every non division opponent for those three teams is terrible.

My guess is the Lions win the division and the next GB/Bears game determines the 2nd WC. I don't have much respect for Carolina.

It's pretty clear that the Saints and Seahawks will be the top 2 seeds. So the Bears will be playing Wild Card weekend. At home if they win the division.

I'm not sure that's clear. SF has been playing lights out the last week and the Seahawks could very easily be sitting on back to back losses to TB and STL. That offensive line is abysmal.

The Bears can realistically go 3-1 on the road the remainder of the season. Their home games are pretty difficult though. I can see 2-2 or 3-1 if everything breaks right.

I think 10 wins though is still within sight, but there's probably a game, or two, where the defense is unable to stop anyone and they lose a game that looks winnable.

Can the Bears even win a playoff game if they get in? I mean what will Cutler do when the earth quakes, and the poison arrows fall from the sky, and the pillars of Heaven shake. ? Will Cutler just look that big ol' storm right square in the eye and say, "Give me your best shot, pal. I can take it." I don't see that happening.

Seattle and the 49ers have pretty easy schedules the rest of the way. Seattle is one up on them in the loss column. They beat them once already. Next game @ SF. Plus 5 out of the last 8 are home games for Seattle.

I'm giving it to Seattle.

The Bears should win their next four. The only challenge would be next week vs. Detroit. Baltimore is bad. So are the Rams. The Vikings are hopeless.

Eagles might end up taking the NFC East.

They need a few of those 8:58 drives against Detroit to keep their D off the field.

Likely not, but, let's paint the most optimistic scenario. Let's say last night's Peppers is the one we'll continue to see the rest of the year. Briggs will be back. Let's say Ratliff is at least decent in the middle, and now Wootton goes back outside. Maybe McClellan plays a bit better being just a 3rd down guy. Let's say Bostic makes some strides. Now you have a defense that could be close to decent. Now say the offense continues to grow under Trestman's scheme. If you are home the first weekend, and it's cold, you could beat a Seattle. You could beat a Detroit or a Carolina. Green Bay? If Rodgers is not back?

From the rest of your comment, it seems you aren't much of a Cutler fan. If Cutler can't play on the big stage like you say, then forget it. I think he can though. I think his reputation for failing in big games is overstated. Yes he has sucked against Green Bay, but in any other big games or prime time games, he's actually done quite well.

I'm one of the biggest cutler supporters here and I don't know and I don't really think he has it in him.

Why not? I'm not excusing his and the Bears' ineptitude against Green Bay for the last 5 years, but aside from that, when has Cutler choked?

There have been opportunities for him to succeed despite the piss poor conditions and he hasn't. Just a feeling.

Shit. Philly is back the mix. They might win the east now. But the Bears play Dallas and Philly. So the Bears have a chance to get the tiebreaker over both teams.

I guess you also have to keep an eye on Arizona. They've been playing well.

Now this NFC wild card race is really interesting. 49ers have lost 2 in a row. Cardinals and Eagles have won 3 in a row. I've got a feeling a 10 win team will miss the playoffs again this year. Bears still play the Cowboys and Eagles. Gotta beat the team that doesn't win the East.

Bears can still get this division, though.
