The NFL has moved to Sunday night the Chicago Bears' road game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Dec. 22. Kickoff is now 7:30 p.m. Central time.
The game originally was scheduled for Sunday at noon Central time, but the NFL has the leeway to move attractive matchups into the Sunday night time slot in an attempt to garner the best TV ratings possible.
The league moved the game between the first-place New England Patriots and reigning Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens out of the Sunday night spot in favor of the Bears and Eagles, teams from the third- and fourth-biggest television markets, respectively.
The Eagles are 8-5 and lead the NFC East by one game. The Bears are tied with the Lions for first place in the NFC North at 7-6. The matchup would lose significant luster if the Bears fail to win at Cleveland this Sunday.
The Bears are 4-0 in night games this season, including a 40-23 road win in Week 3 against the Pittsburgh Steelers in their only Sunday night appearance.
