I keep hearing that Sunday is a huge test for Cutler, against a team that has owned him. What makes you (anyone) think he will be different? I hope he is, but I have many doubts.

I agree, but I hope it happens. If not, no excuses.

Idk, what more can Emery and Trestman ask for to go into their decision making process? Barring any really weird stuff they will have all their info. One of Emery's best calls this year was to say zero talk of any contracts this season.

Let's be real though...even if he does well in this case he needs to show me a lot more to get my support

Fuck....Rex Grossman is great when everything around him was perfect as it now is for Cutler

Rex would have won a SB with these weapons.

I think Cutler's chance to "prove" himself by playing well in big games has long passed. Even if he wins a game or two in the playoffs, which he's done already to be fair, I think we're still well past the point of wanting to secure his services long-term for top dollar.

Probably true. He was putting up great numbers with Ron Turner and with only a #2 WR. Those Bears teams didn't have much talent on offense.

Obviously Rex wasn't elite and he was too short but he was not a complete pile of shit like Mirer.

This might be meatballish, but I don't give a shit.

Go back to last Sunday before that game ever started. Everyone knew the Bears couldn't stop Philadelphia. Cutler knew it. He knew his offense was going to have to produce at a high level. So the Eagles, led by a backup, rookie QB, march down and score. You want a big contract? $20 million a year? This is your moment. You have to come back and even it up. This is the football game. You can't go three and out. Brady doesn't go three and out there running that same team. Foles probably doesn't either. But Jay does. Because he isn't a big time quarterback. He's just a guy. And not a guy that you pay $20 million. No, it isn't his fault Hester dropped the ball or that the defense sucks. But he's the most important player on the field for his team. every quarterback has challenges. It seems like the Cutler supporters want to say, "Well, give him the '85 Bears defense, Jerry Rice, Barry Sanders, and Deion returning kicks, and you'll see what a good quarterback Jay can be." Bullshit. He sucks. Dump his ass.

Jorr, I really think it stems from fear. Fear of the unknown. People feel if they do not keep him we wonder in the desert for 40 years.

What if he didn't make that Pro Bowl?

That really sticks with you in the NFL despite the ridiculous way some guys get in

The other thing- and I often talk about this with regard to starting pitchers and their W/L records- is that a game is self-contained. The modern emphasis on statistics tend to make us view everything through averages rather than within the context of the actual games. There is an ebb and flow to a football game. There are times when you have to score to stay in the game or you're going to get buried. In that Philadelphia game, Cutler was about as far from leading his team as you could get. But that's pretty much him. And his apologists will always say it isn't his fault because he has a big arm and fast feet and his numbers ultimately look fairly good.

Right. And a top quarterback would have marched down with all his WEAPONS and made it 14-7 and we're playing football. Instead, Jay shrunk the way he always does and the way he no doubt will this Sunday.

If he wants a big contract he will produce. He can't go into the offseason expecting big money after coming off a season filled with injuries. I expect him to rise to the occasion.

282 yards
2 touchdowns
0 turnovers

Great comparison. Not many better when they are on BUT they aren't consistently on.

Can't be Gavin because JORR likes him. He don't like Danks.

Guy at the bar would rather have Jordan Lynch than Cutler. "He'd be a great Bear." This is why I shouldn't leave the house to watch sports

Over/Under on Cutler picks = 1.5. What do you think?
