The draft is next and I'm worried this guy likes to dig for the unknown gem instead of grabbing a bag of diamonds everyone else is reaching for. I don't want to see any high draft pick traded for 2 lower picks. That's gutless. Go get somebody with promise,no "maybe's" from some college nobody has heard of.

Also,in free agency ,he did a fine job last season. Let's not forget he brought in 2 veteran Linebackers. I don't think he did much else with the defense.

Resign:

Matt Clausen & Garza. Let's not start screwing with what works BUT also search for other O_Linemen that might contend for jobs.

I dont trust anyone with the Bears front office. Emery will reach for a pick again, he's proven that is what he does in the first round.

He has only had 1 first round pick.

yeah but how would you say he has done with the draft so far?

It's hit or miss with a lot of GM's. Long worked out but it still left a lot of "experts" scratching their head.

I agree that Shea McClellin is bad and invisible on the field but he does physically exist.

Agreed. I also think Ted Phillips is the puppet master.

It's been 2 but you try to forget about Shea. Long was a reach too.

I really can't say much about him until I see this draft. I still have faith in him but when Shea was drafted I was shocked when I saw the tape on him. He looked tiny.

My bad I was thinking Long was a 2nd round pick.

Obviously 99 has been a bust.

Jeffery has been great.

Long has been a solid pick.

I do not think there is enough to make a call one way or the other right now.

Long should have been a 2nd round pick but Emery drafted him in the 1st.

I edited it once I realized my mistake.

Either way my point remains the same.

Not enough to really make a call on whether he can draft well or not

It's a tough gig. I agree though. His work in Free Agency rates pretty high, also hiring Trestman might be a great move.

He's made more than 3 draft picks in two years so far, so there's more to look at than we are doing here. Also, IB has posted his history as a scout/director of player personnel and it's not confidence-inspiring.

I do agree with your overall point that it's hard to say definitively one way or the other whether he will end up being a successful GM here, but he's not off to a great start.

For the rest of the NFC North.

He's had some good picks but he has reached on all of them.

Aaron Rodgers would love to have Jeffery.

Aaron Rodgers would love to have Jeffery.

Any QB would(with the possible exception of Cutler). He's a fucking great WR. He's every bit as good as Shea is bad.

I think Wilson has a chance to be a nice piece for them as well.

Then, I fear you might want to forget the name Ra'Shede Hageman from Minnesota.

He's one of those athletic freaks on the D-line that can move inside or out but hasn't lived up to potential against better competition. He'll look awesome in the combine stats though.

Are you sure about that? He's kind of like the Schrodinger's cat of defensive linemen.

It's already begun. Everybody loves him at the Senior Bowl.

I watched some of the Senior Bowl practice while in the office today & Jimmy G. from Eastern Illinois looked about as good as a QB can look. His mechanics are nearly flawless...footwork, hips, arm angle, release, everything. He is moving up & some predict he will get drafted in the 2nd round.

No.

I can't believe I missed this thread. Any chance to verbally pound Captain Weirdpants and I'm in.

Seems to be a bizzaro Lovie-type GM. He appears to have succeeded fixing the offensive side of the ball. Now we'll see what he can do with the other side of the ball.

I will never trust a recycled Bears employee as the GM. did you know many of the same scouts from the Angleo regime are still with the Bears...which includes Emery.
