Ted Phillips:
"given that we have the smallest capacity building in the NFL, it's pretty much a given that every year there's going to be some type of ticket price increase."

That makes no sense...plus, it's YOUR fault the capacity is so small!

why would philips say that in the paper? i dont understand how that does the organization any good getting allt he meatball fans riled up.

i will say the bears do treat their season ticket holders pretty well (even the non-psl ones). there are a number of little perks they've rolled out over the last couple of years

Why do fans complain about the rise in ticket prices? Is there an expectation that the prices will go down or do you expect to pay the same amount for the next 10 years?

1. I would think it would be better PR to hold the line in years when you are not a winning team and don't make the playoffs, and then jack them up more after successful seasons.
2. Phillips's comment regarding seating capacity was just nonsense. We know the price will be based on supply and demand, so why make it sound like the Bears are the victim of a small stadium when you were the one who designed it that way?

How long will the Bears PR hit be? A day? The aren't the Jaguars. Besides they are running a business where the cost of everything rises every season.

I would rather they be truthful. Don't insult my intelligence by lying about it.

So why aren't you praising him for setting the prices so low the past few years? Obviously it could have been much higher, according to supply and demand, so why make it sound like Phillips citing the stadium size/number of tickets is not a valid reason to raise prices? They are still selling out every game, no? Prices should go up -- honestly, they could have raised them 20% and I would guess that the place would still sell out.
