After Monday's win the NFC playoffs will come through Chicago. I'm driving into work this morning wondering how do we stand compared to a year ago. Last year we had Carolina coming to town and Grossman back taking the snaps yet the Bears went out with a whimper.

With the injuries on defense and the rollercoaster performance of Grossman how confident can Bear's fans be that the team will get at least one playoff win?

I take solace from the fact that the rest of the NFC sucks but the home field advantage thing is over-rated. The fans will help but the cold weather will effect everyone the same especially if you have Seattle coming to town. I think home teams are 10-10 in the last 4 or 5 years of the playoffs.

What makes this team better than the one that went into the playoffs last season?

The offense is better than last year, but the defense is worse as it heads into the playoffs. Rex will be an open question against playoff teams, but so is the defense. Defense was dominant early in the season when healthy; but that's no longer the case. The cluster injuries are starting to have an effect. Giving up 400+ yards to St. Louis has to be a concern.

I have no confidence in a hard-headed QB that for one night decided he wouldn't LOSE a game and coaches who allow their QB to ignore their gameplan and let him go wild. This team can win it all if they run the ball and dont turn it over but rex's ego will inflate with time.

Home teams win just under 80% of the time. Now I know home games are generally reserved for the better team but it has a significant impact. It would be especially important should a dome team like NO, ATL or MIN come to Soldier Field.

Last 2 years home/away record is 10-10 and last 3 years is 14-16. Agreed a dome team should struggle more, but Carolina had no problem in last year's Bear weather and I recall both the Vikings and Falcons going into the Frozen Tundra and getting playoff wins against the Packers. Also a team with a strong run game should have more of a level playing field in a cold weather city.

This is exactly where I was coming from on this. I have less confidence in the defence. If Rex is clicking this offense is better. I hope we get to see a lot more of split carrys between Jones and Benson now that Jones has crossed 1000 yards.

Bear weather is more overrated than white sox attendance and 'there's something about mary' combined.

You clearly have been taken with cabin fever in the lonely mountain west so I will pretend I did not hear that. Franks and Beans had me laughing for 5 minutes straight.
