As I think he is a very emotional guy, as the Bears sign more and more defensive guys, he sees something he wants to be a part of, thats when you make him the 1 year offer with a little over the vet minimum. I think he will understand it. he will want to stay here. for a price, it is a good signing.

the one in a million who is actually such a good guy, you'd overpay to have him.

I think the Bears need to find a way to bring him back. If all they're willing to offer him is the veteran minimum he shouldn't take it. He's been pretty durable his entire career and it would send the wrong message.

I'm not saying give him a $7M deal but offering him a minimum deal is an insult. They just bid against themselves and overpaid for Cutler. I would think Tillman's contributions as a player and the way he represented the team off the field should be enough to get him offered more than a veterans minimum.

Provided he doesnt get hurt he can still do his job and ball punch. There are a lot of older CB's out there, Unless Lovie is dumb there is no big offer for peanut.

I wish he would switch to safety.

What an awesome guy and terribly underrated player for years. Tough SOB who would play the run better than many linebackers. One of my all time favorite Bears.

Underrated by whom? No one underrated him. He's widely known as (probably) the best corner the Bears ever had.

Maybe not appreciated enough because of the other stars on defense?

He is one of my faves. I'll miss him if he goes somewhere else.

It'll officially be the end of an era. Especially when Briggs leaves the following year.

His peers. And many NFL fans who only saw his prowess over the last four years.

He was in the league ten years before he made a Pro Bowl.

I think R.W. McQuarters would like a word with you.

I agree, but Emery & Tresty seem to want to clear the decks of the old guard. When does Peppers get released? Not soon enough.

You act like he's always injured. That's not the case.

He is plagued by bad shoulders which I believe is a permanent injury.

He's not coming back to play safety so the discussion is irrelevant.

What? Last season was starting out as one of his best until the injury.

He's made the Pro Bowl in the last three years. And before this year, was a turnover machine.

OK. So 2009, 2010, 2013 he suffered serious injuries: back surgery, shoulder surgery, broken ribs, bruised lung, and finally the torn tricep.

2011 and 12 he was good and made Pro-Bowls. In 13 it was obvious his coverage skills were declining before the injury.

I know that many players have bonuses for ALL PRo, WILDCARD, etc.

I would give Tillman some big bonuses. I know it does go against the next years cap, but so be it.

I think Tillman would be all for it, while signing for $1.5M

I know he said no fucking way but he would be a perfect ball hawking free safety. I do not see why he is so set against? Even the great Rod Woodson and Charles Woodson did it.

I'm not sure what his shoulders have left in them.

I really thought the contract with Lovie was a foregone conclusion and I think it was...until Verner was signed. I don't think there was much interest after that, which was a needed dose of reality for Peanut.

Now he can play on one year contracts until he can't or doesn't want to play any more. This is good for both sides. The Bears secondary looks much better than it did a day ago.

Now they need a safety from the first two rounds. I still think DT is the way to go in round 1.
