Emery has now told us that you cant find a QB that isn't drafted early.

Jordan Palmer drafted in the 6ht round.

Additionally, anyone seen Jordans Palmers offseason job?

He is working with Blake Bortles to get him ready for the NFL, also Wyoming's Brett Smith and Washington's Keith Price.

Assuming Palmer is the next Josh McCown (this is the goal with this guy), then I think the Bears need to late draft or sign one of a very deep QB class.

if either Smith or Price is a free agent and they work out on any other team, that would be a huge "PHO PAH" on behalf of this organization.

Not saying it translates to being a good QB, but Palmer is really impressive as a QB coach for Bortles.

I hate to get my panties moist over a Chicago coach but I think Trestman can make any QB better. Still, you are starting out pretty low with Palmer.

I agree, it's a tough climb, but I think he is a little better than some of the historically bad backups we had.

If you see Palmer coach these kids you can see what Tresty loves about him. All the little shit, like how to call a play, footwork, etc He doesnt have to work on with him, they can just get into the playbook. Palmer was awfully impressive as a coach. Hope he does what he says others should do.

Palmer's a pro. A well of knowledge and experience. Is he a great backup? No, but it could be a lot worse. The Bears used McCown in a similar role over the years to serve as a de-facto additional QB coach for Cutler. Palmer has this same ability and while he may not have the incredible fit in the offense that McCown had he should do well in all other facets. Plus we've never seen what Palmer could do if he's put in a McCownian emergency situation. If he knows the offense well enough and gets sufficient protection, I think it could be comparable. The great hope, obviously, is that he's never called upon.

Just seeing Palmer teach guys like Bortles, you dont question he knows how to play NFL QB. Watching him last year in preseason, I thought he did well for a backup QB. he threw shorter passes, but they got there in a hurry and accurate tosses.

I think Lovie might have cut him once as well, which is a great sign for Palmer.

Lovie also cut McCown as a backup, then hires him as his #1, Hmmmm.
