Have to think the Bear will get a safety and LB at some point on the last day.
Possible picks:

Safeties

Brock Vereen
Craig Loston
Marqueston Huff
Christian Bryant -- Sleeper pick out of Ohio State. I think he could be a late round value pick

LBs

Max Bullough
Telvin Smith
Christian Jones

Heres to hoping we make it out of day 3 without drafting Michael Sam.

I actually wouldn't mind the Bears filling in some depth at some offensive positions like TE or RB if there are any decent ones still around. We still need a burner at WR as well.

Wouldn't mind seeing a Robert Herron ( WR Wyoming) or Martavis Bryant (WR Clemson) get taken by the Bears.

Bryant has good size and a nice 40 time 6-4 200 pounds. 40 time I have on him is around 4.38 or so.

Herron is short at 5-8, but he has been clocked in the low 4.3's. Also smaller school product.

Oregon TE Colt Lyerla grades out high skill wise (1st round talent), but is a risk off the field. Hub talked a bit about him recently if I am not mistaken and mentioned the kid got in with the wrong people when guys like Kyle Long left for the NFL. He thinks Kyle might be able to help out with him in a mentor type role. Not sure about that, but there it is.

I would definitely be down with the Bears using one of their last couple picks on the TE out of Oregon. What is their to lose? He could be an absolute steal and if he bombs then you didn't lose anything

Besides depth on the defensive side of ball (maybe)

Spend the next 4 picks on defense - or possibly a flier on an OL or if Fales/McCarron/Murray if one of them falls to rd 6/7

Murray at #7 would be a huge value pick. I will be shocked if he is there at 7 though. If he is you gotta take him.

FS Ed Reynolds (Stanford) was graded out as a 2nd round talent by alot of boards/articles that I read. Just noticed he is still sitting there. Had an ACL injury in 2011 and gets flagged here and there for taking shots at guys but is a good finisher when tackling and sound coverage guy.

Wouldn't mind the Bears taking a flyer on him. Decent size at 6-1 210 with a 4.5 ballparked 40 time. And again, grades out as a 2nd round talent.

Guess we need a safety still and a RB would be nice. I really don't hate the DT picks but why 2? What are we going to do with them all?

To make up for the pick that inevitably gets cut in year two, per Bears policy.

Ka'Deem Carey
Arizona
Running Back
Scouts Inc. Position RK: 11
Scouts Inc. Overall RK: 130
Scouts Inc. Grade: 61
Traits Scale
1 = Exceptional | 2 = Above Average | 3 = Average | 4 = Below Average | 5 = Marginal
Overall Football Traits
PRODUCTION: 1
2011: (11/0) - 91-425-4.7- 6 2012: (13/13) - 303-1,929-6.4-23 2013: (12/12) 349-1,885-5.4-19 Career receiving: 77-679-8.8-4
HWS: 4
Adequate height with high-cut build. Lacks ideal bulk. Appears to play faster than combine 40-time but still best result of 4.70 is still concerning.
DURABILITY: 2
Has not missed playing time due to injury during his first two seasons. Racked up 820 career touches, so undersized body has already endured considerable punishment.
CHARACTER: 4
Arrested and charged with misdemeanor assault and disorderly conduct after incident with pregnant ex-girlfriend in December, 2012. The charges were dropped last summer and Carey has reconciled with his girlfriend, who gave birth to a boy. Kicked out of an Arizona basketball game after getting into a verbal altercation with event staff and police over seats. Was suspended for 2013 season opener vs. UNA per team policy.
Running Back Specific Traits
COMPETITIVENESS: 1
Determined runner. Runs bigger than measurables indicate. Finishes strong and fights for extra yards. Gives good effort in pass protection. Ball security is average: Tied for 12th among 25 RBs tracked with 0.8 fumble percentage in 2013 (and identical fumble percentage for entire career). Was a workhorse in 2013averaging 33 carries in his final seven games. Also delivered in big games, including career performance (48 carries for 206 yards) in 2013 Oregon upset.
VISION/PATIENCE: 2
Natural feel probing for creases. Good patience utilizing blocks but can be too quick to look for cutback lanes at times. Flashes ability to set up defenders. Above-average second-level and open-field vision.
AGILITY/ACCELERATION: 3
Slashing runner with quick feet and good body control. Lateral quickness is only slightly above-average (has a little bit of tightness in hips and isn't as fluid and smooth on jump cuts or when stringing multiple cuts together as expected). Displays good short-area burst out of cuts but lacks an extra gear to hit the home run.
POWER/BALANCE: 4
Runs with an adequately wide base for a back with a narrow, high-cut frame. Shows adequate initial power for size. Similar to a young Carnell "Cadillac" Williams; gets small in hole and doesn't take many clean shots to body. Runs hard and will bounce off some defenders. Shows savvy as short-yardage runner. But ultimately, lacks size and core strength to consistently run over NFL LBs or push the pile. Also gets tripped up from behind (and by sideswiping defenders) too often.
PASSING GAME: 2
Excellent feel as a receiver out of the backfield. Above-average quickness as a route runner to create separation. Natural ball skills and body control adjusting to throws outside frame. Flashes ability to create after the catch. Effective in the screen game. Great effort as a blocker. Good awareness in pass pro. Lacks prototypical anchor, though, and needs to improve technique and pad level in sets.

Well, Carey was the #1 RB with 1st /2nd round talent on at least 1 mock that I saw. That said he is also the product of a Rich-Rod offense -and those offenses aren't known for producing much NFL wise.

Bears will also have to get passed the fact he likes to spar with his pregnant girlfriend on the front lawn every now and then.

Solid pick there I guess tho from a value standpoint.

Fuck. Steelers nabbed Bryant at WR right after the Bears picked. Really liked that kid, ran consistant mid 4.3's at the combine and has great size too. Well over 6 feet tall. That kind of speed and size is rare. I know we needed a back-up RB plan for Matt, but man I would have liked to see Martavis on our team.

Steelers got a nice pick there. Remember the name Martavis Bryant imo.

Just read that Carey had one of the slowest 40 times clocked in the 4.7 range. Might be a problem. He isn't big enough at 207 to be a consistant between the tackles guy in the NFL either imo. Good football player tho, we know he wasn't drafted based on his workouts.

Because you play with more than 1 at a time and it is extremely important to have a good rotation of them.

When you have all the needs on D you take the highest value on that side of the ball on your board. I think that is what they were doing there. I would rather get the best value DT at that point than reach for a S that may not be as good of a value.

Love the RB pick. Lots of talent there. He is a football player. He may not be a track star, but he is a football guy.

All that matters is the chains are moved, whether by catching or running. I'm intrigued by the pass catching skills here. Track stars are nice but not necessary.

HWS: 2
On the lighter side but good height and excellent top-end speed. Small hands (8 1/4") and short arms (30').Attention grabbing workout at Combine. At just shy of 6-feet and 200 pounds, ran a 4.47 40-yard dash, a 4.07 short-shuttle and a 6.90 three-cone. Also had 25 reps on bench press with a 34-inch VJ and 9-9 BJ.
DURABILITY: 2
Is undersized for a DS, so some long-term durability concern. But has been extremely reliable to this point. Played in all 38 games (32) during final three seasons.
CHARACTER: 1
Team captain. Loves the game and knows what it takes to be a pro. Good student; held 4.4 GPA in high school. Split time between safety and cornerback during his career. Has the bloodlines: brother, Shane, is a running back for Patriots and father, Henry, was drafted by the Buccaneers, and mother, Venita, played tennis at UNLV.
Defensive Safety Specific Traits
INSTINCTS/RECOGNITION: 3
Instincts continue to improve with more experience. Disciplined with assignments. Diagnoses run quickly. Was not fooled by misdirection or screens on tapes we studied. Only knock was occasional false step vs. play-action. Does good job of staying with man on QB scrambles. Doesn't abort too early but has natural feel. Great mental makeup for special teams. Very effective covering kicks.
COVER SKILLS: 2
Has versatility as a FS/CB/NB type. Has played all over secondary. Quick feet and balance in pedal. Above average man-to-man coverage skills for a safety. Good range in zone. Has some tightness in hips and can lose a bit of ground in transition, but accelerates out of turn and shows very good catch up speed when carrying WRs vertically.
BALL SKILLS: 4
Solid ball production: 22 PBU and 4 INTs during final three seasons. Very small hands (8 1/4') and short arms (30'). Lacks ideal size when contesting vs. TEs and bigger WRs. Does a lot of punching at the ball as he tries to reach around bigger-framed pass catchers. Does not consistently attack ball with two hands. If in position will look to cradle ball into pads.
RUN SUPPORT: 2
Good range vs. run plays sideline-to-sideline and pursues hard. Not afraid to fill and support. More powerful than frame indicates. Will step up and take on much bigger lead blockers when necessary. Struggles to anchor, but can at least occupy blocker and funnel ball carrier back inside. Leaves feet as a tackler a bit too often but sticks to ball carriers once he makes contact. Strong upper body. Finds ways to get ball carrier to ground. Closes in a flash and makes some tough open-field tackles look easy.

Not cool if this gives DeCamilis more absurd play call ideas. Never missed a ST coach as much as I miss Toub.
