What the fuck does this mean? Every Chicago sports reporter is talking about a "different" Cutler. How he is "different" this year. How he looks "different" on the field. Do people really buy this shit?

Cutler has been in the league for 9 years. I think you should know what you are getting. He will not magically change because of the off season or because Trestman knows how to stroke his cock. Trestman may know how to mask his issues as a QB, but it doesn't mean those issues do not exist.

The only way he is different is that his WR are highly accomplished so he will look stupid going off on them in his typical style.

Did you see the fit he threw at Weems in pre season Game 1? That is the same Jay Cutler we have always seen.

The funny thing is that it indicates that there was a lot wrong with him prior to this year that have been corrected.

Cutler is a fucking loser. Why do people keep trying to convince themselves otherwise? How does that get you closer to a championship?

I think getting married and having two babies in the timespan Jay has could absolutely change a man.

We will see if that change translates to anything on the field.

No. He was a "changed man" when traded and awarded a fresh start in Chicago, a "changed man" when he got married, a "changed man" after kids, "a changed man" after one season under Trestman, yada yada yada it's all bullshit.

I hate preseason for any sport. It's a lazy statement by lazy reporters, host exc. Some other phrases I hate,

"He is in the best shape of his life." Most of the time the guy is on the wrong side of 30.

"He has worked on X part of his game all offseason." Usually this means whatever he worked on he still sucks at.

"Looks great in practice!" Really, because he still looks like shit in the game.

"Every team is in first place." No kidding, Talk to me after the first month when you are in last.

"Team has bonded and has great CHEMISTRY." How many times do we hear this, only to see the team go on a long losing streak to start the season.

Wake me up when the regular season starts and the Cubs actually field a ML team.

I understand where you are coming from, but can you honestly tell me that if you had to relocate due to your job that wouldn't change you at all? Would getting married and having two sons change you even a bit?

This story gets written every year, and yes its tiresome, I think there might be a bit of truth to it.

Personally, Marriage & Children have a positive effect on most people. Changes your priorities...at least it should.
Professionally, Trestman is probably the first coach that Jay has respect for. The Bears had some real knuckleheads like Tice & Lovie. Tresty is a good leader & knows how to handle Jay.

the tens of millions of dollars guaranteed to him had a much bigger impact on him than any newborn children

Every year, Cutler is a new man. Every year, Matt Forte is in great shape. Every year, some undrafted or late round safety always looks "impressive" and is "turning heads."

In past years, Devin Hester always looked great at WR. In past years, Urlacher was always in the best shape of his career.

Oh, and the offense always looks to be great, and Cutler has great weapons (probably true this year but just coincidental)!

It is interesting how that could go in either direction though. His next "contract year" seems to be in year 3 of the deal.

Well now Marshall and Jeffery must open up their lockers if Cutler says so, especially if they've got nothing to hide.

I'm.sure it has some impact but if it's written every year like you acknowledged then the narrative it tries to establish is meaningless. Life changes or not it's his job to be good. Consistent workplace attitude shouldn't depend on random life events except for obvious circumstances like death in the family etc.

This is his 2nd year in the offense and he has real weapons around him. IMO he had his best year as a Bear his 2nd year under Martz. He had started to put it together and his season was cut short because of an injury. This time will be even better because he has real talent on offense. I'm excited about this year.

Cutler has been in the league for 9 years. I think you should know what you are getting. He will not magically change because of the off season or because Trestman knows how to stroke his cock. Trestman may know how to mask his issues as a QB, but it doesn't mean those issues do not exist.

If he calms down, uses more balance and leverage in his footwork, and maintains enough composure in the pocket to go through all of his reads, we will all notice a BIG difference.

I see him doing all this. That is what a Trestman can do for him.

So, if he completely changes how he has QB'd his entire life this year (which you, for some reason, expect) then he will be different.

Good luck with that.

I expect his first throw of the regular season to go for a pick-6.

A good coach changes the fuck out of a good player.

A good coach hides his players' weaknesses.

So is it fair to say that prior to this year Cutler has been a bad teammate, tough to work with, and immature and a poor leader? If not, what is "different" about him?

Unless you have played for the Bears at some point over the last 5 years, SH, you don't know that to be true.

Perhaps you missed it, but Jay had a highly publicized reputation a bad teammate, tough to work with, immature and a poor leader.

Cite some of that info for us here then please. If it was so highly publicized as you claim, I would think you should be able to post at least two stories about each of those qualities.

His teammates and the media are reporting he is "different". So, you aren't making a good point there.
