Quote:
New York Post columnist Phil Mushnick isn’t a big fan of Showtime’s “Inside the NFL” using Brandon Marshall as a regular analyst this year..

His Sunday column labeled the Bears receiver a “miscreant” and included this passage:

“Rinse, lather, repeat: Since his rookie year with the Broncos in 2006, talented WR Brandon Marshall, now with the Bears, has relentlessly coveted and won extra on-field TV attention through unsportsmanlike, me-first, excessive demonstrations, not to mention extra off-field attention. Frequently arrested, he eventually earned a suspension for violating the NFL’s personal code of conduct.

“And that must explain why of all the active NFL players that Showtime/CBS’ 'Inside the NFL' could this year choose as a regular player/panelist/analyst, the shot-callers chose Brandon Marshall.”

The assessment seems a bit harsh. While Marshall did have problems earlier in his career with Denver, he acknowledged in 2011 that he has been receiving treatment for borderline personality disorder. During his two Pro Bowl seasons with the Bears, his headlines have occurred on the field.

Showtime isn’t holding Marshall’s past problems against him. The network believes Marshall has plenty to say, and won’t be shy about saying it.

Truth hurts.

Yep. He was only doing it for attention when he donated $1million on The View towards mental health research. This guy gets it.

Yeah. You're right Frank he wasnt being an attention whore at all!! Lots of people go on TV to donate money.

It doesnt make him a bad guy though, the money still spends.

He also got to play the "I'm reformed!" card.

It still sucks to root for a guy who did all the things he did. It always will.

It is 99.999999999999999999% likely that Marshall actually cares about his cause.

Is this any different than any of the other bears who do local tv or local radio?

They aren't flying to New York to do a national show.

I don't think the fact that he has to use an airplane is the reason Kirkwood thinks he is attention whoring.

In person on a national show in a different city is a little different then calling in to a radio show from your house on your off day.

No way, really? Can you go away so Kirkwood can answer the question I actually asked? I'm good on physical differences between a show in New York, and one in Chicago.

My issue is the work involved. His off day has become a work day. Traveling to and from New York isn't just a 3 hour round trip flight. There is the the travel to the airport, waiting at the airport, show prep, and doing the show.

All of this while having to be mentally engaged Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri and Sat.

I don't understand why he can't remotely broadcast like PTI does with Wilbon at times.

Don't worry about marshall...a wideout only needs to be ready one day a week, worry about your own shitball wide receivers .

He would've gotten the message across better on The View if he had poured ice water over his head. What an idiot.

I think that's valid, but I also don't blame football players for making as much money as they possibly can.

But that said, what's your reasoning have to do with attention whoring any more than any other off the field media engagements by players?

This endeavor involves a larger risk of being detrimental to the team than an hour on Fox post game or a weekly radio hit.

I just don't see the benefit. This is a year the Bears consider themselves Super Bowl contenders and the star receiver is trying to become the next Charles Barkely on the side.

I think we have seen what happens when a guy tries to hold 2 jobs.
